South Side Fireworks Man
Ozzie deserves to be fired immediately for the way he mis-managed that game. Sox won despite Ozzie.

caulfield12
Ozzie's excuse on Beckham not bunting... That he "trusted" him to hit the ball to the right side of the infield (with how he's been hitting that way in recent weeks) or get a base hit and that he felt very confident with two lefties (Teahen and Pierre) coming up behind Gordon. Paulstar
It sucks when a white sox victory doesn't really feel much different than a loss.

That he "trusted" him to hit the ball to the right side of the infield (with how he's been hitting that way in recent weeks) or get a base hit and that he felt very confident with two lefties (Teahen and Pierre) coming up behind Gordon. Yet if it had been the second or third inning he would've undoubtedly called for a bunt. Ozzie is rare in that he makes you root against your own team sometimes. I'm like 95% happy we won. But there's part of me that feels like Ozzie bought himself another week with this win that he had absolutely nothing to do with.

Did he say why he took that bat out of the hands of Ramirez and Konerko in the eighth?

Oz takes the bat out of Konerko's hands before the game even begins by batting Dunn behind him.

I don't care what anyone says about my fandom, but I wouldn't have minded a sweep at all by the Twins, because that would at least given me hope that there would be a chance that Oz would have been fired on Monday. Cali
Yay... I guess? I don't want to say I'm rotting against the Sox, but I'm rooting for change. Winning wont accomplish anything. This team as constructed SUCKS. Changes need to happen to still take advantage of this still weak division.... Losing shakes things up enough for change or at the very least a good start going into next season.
Greg Hibbard
Weren't a bunch of people saying they never wanted to see beckham bunt again? Glad they won. Wish people could find something positive.
greg775
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 01:41 AM) Weren't a bunch of people saying they never wanted to see beckham bunt again? Glad they won. Wish people could find something positive. Exactly Hibs! Can you imagine if Gordon would have popped up the bunt to the pitcher who doubled off AJ?? They'd be screaming, "FIRE OZZIE!! THE DAMN BUNT!!" Folks, we finally beat Minnesota and people are b****ing. Ozzie gave his reasoning and it's actually not bad reasoning. Most of you despise the bunt even in late game situations. Ozzie's a winner today. Why? Uh, his team won?
greg775
I actually watched the final 3-4 innings after initially turning it off and was pleased to see the Sox actually get a few hits instead of rolling over the final few frames. I still think we get owned tomorrow, though, and the Oz haters can be happy, figuring it'll be easier for KW to pull the trigger after faceplanting 2-3 to KC and 3-4 to Minnie. I would also prefer Oz get canned now cause I'm convinced he's Fla's next manager. Get it started now.
fathom
You really can't realize the difference between saying we don't like a bunt in the 3rd inning with a runner on first and no outs and then asking for the bunt with a runner on second and no outs in the bottom of the 9th of a tie game?
