Dick Allen
Supposedly it is a minor league contract he would sign. They'd have 2 weeks to evaluate him. Not enough when the playoffs are at stake.
Guest JimH
Just to clarify ... 2000 history: Parque's arm was falling off late that season. So was Eldred's. So was Baldwin's. Sirotka's was indeed after the season. 2000 was NOT, repeat, NOT, the beginning of a dynasty. More like lightning in a bottle.
Rex Hudler
Supposedly it is a minor league contract he would sign. They'd have 2 weeks to evaluate him. Not enough when the playoffs are at stake. Get over it, DA. I didn't hear you b****ing when they signed Carlos Castillo, did I? If they sign the guy to a minor league contract then what do you care? If the guy earns a promotion and helps the club then we are better off for it. I didn't hear ONE person call him a savior. This is a minor league signing, with the hope the guy might be able to help. If they catch lightning in a bottle then great. If he stinks up AAA, no harm done. You and HSC are wound WAY too tight on this one.
Jim Fainter
Uh, Rex, I think I posted something to that effect a couple of days ago. That is, he'll get a couple of starts in Charlotte, and we'll see.
