BigEdWalsh
This is pretty bad signing a pitcher that even we beat .
elrockinMT
I guess we all want a mega trade, but there ius nothing wrong with signing a fellow to pitch at Triple A. Maybe he can help sometime down the road. Teams make these moves all the time
earthshiner
at least he never pitched for the Royals
JPN366
Still not announced officially by the White Sox, nor has he been added to the Charlotte roster either.
LittleHurt05
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 06:59 PM) He'll get called up for the upcoming Yankee's series. He shut them down once already. If only we could play them at Wrigley with the wind blowing extremely in.
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 01:35 PM) White Sox signed LHP Doug Davis to a minor league contract. Davis was released by the Cubs at the end of June after posting a 6.50 ERA over nine starts. The veteran left-hander will provide depth at the Triple-A level link ? caulfield12
3. The White Sox's recent signing of Doug Davis was done with the idea of a possible Edwin Jackson trade in mind. He provides insurance behind Jake Peavy should the Sox take the best offer they get for Jackson, as with him gone they'd be down to five starters. Ozzie Guillen's six-man rotation has cut down the workload for the starting rotation. Mark Buehrle has worked a team high 121 innings entering his start Monday night in Kansas City, and he ranks 39th among major-leaguers in innings pitched. Also, don't forget about Chris Sale. He could be transitioned into the starting rotation if Jackson was traded and a need arose. The one thing we should know about the White Sox is they're going to do something at the trade deadline, even if only Kenny Williams has an idea what he's going to do. Phil Rogers is on crack cocaine. Zambrano, Marmol and especially Aramis Ramirez to the Tigers, at least some of that is logical. The Cubs wantingback Brandon Inge, not even Hendry is THAT dumb. It's almost as logical as the Yankees giving the Sox Curtis Granderson for Rios and Danks. Rogers should know better than to think you can just stick Chris Sale in the starting rotation like that, too. Transitioning over 4-6 weeks and then pitching in the heart of the pennant race as a starter for the first time in months, that doesn't seem like a good idea. If we couldn't/didn't trust Daniel Hudson in that role, why would we ever think Sale could do it more easily than Hudson?

Balta1701
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 09:28 AM) touche Remember that's an important clause. If we trade away Danks, Quentin, and Jackson, we're really not going to care how many games we win this season. The fewer games we win, the better our draft pick. Doug Davis is a guy we could bring up to lose 4 games in a month as the 5ths tarter, while giving, for example, Sale time to be stretched outl

You're not going to figure out that Chris Sale is a bad starter based on September of this year. You're also not going to find out that he's a good starter based on September of this year. No, but you can start his innings building towards figuring that out instead of delaying it yet another year.
