joeynach
So had everyone, but Ozzie realized that Peavy is freaking terrible from about 75+ pitches on. His velocity goes noticably down, his ability to locate becomes awful, and he has all sorts of problems running that 2 seamer right over the heart of the plate. According to Yahoo hitters are hitting .448 against Peavy in pitches 76-90, and .421 in pitches 91-105, for this season. And to be honest you dont have even look at the stats to realize hes been so bad in the 5th and 6th innings this year. Its obvious the problem is weak arm/shoulder. Most likely as a result of all the injuries.
kwolf68
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 09:58 PM) What good is shutting him down going to do? He needs to pitch and pick up some strength. Its ironic the outing that killed him was one when he was basically unhittable, the relief outing he had. If he is fatigued as has been suggested by well...Jake himself, then the only cure for that is rest. He could just have too much tread off the tire as well. caulfield12
Masterson and Liriano in 1-0 pitcher's duel. Indians leading again. Twins would be 8 games back after being so optimistic on Sunday.

caulfield12
Laying in the weeds defined by Cabrera. Short and quick, study it Dunn/Rios/Beckham. We should be preparing to send Sale down to AAA soon to start if things keep going against us. We'll know in 2 more weeks for sure. caulfield12
And even Beckham made an error tonight. Just very mediocre defense by the Sox. In the end, though....our offense is still killing us. You could have predicted it simply based on the line-up, facing an unknown pitcher with really top-notch stuff and pretty erratic control.
The Ginger Kid
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) Beckham has an error tonight. I blame Lexi for that one. And he's made some sweet plays as well.

fathom
The usual it seems: - Peavy loses gas faster than anyone not named Phil Humber - Morel has no business being in the majors - Viciedo not being in the lineup every day is comical - Very little power (1 homer in last 7 games, I believe)
fathom
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:13 AM) Konerko has cooled off bigtime. His swing has gotten so preventive.

fathom
I watch this team, and the first thing that comes to mind is....we need a righty reliever. BTW, how awful is our Morel/Teahen platoon against LHP?
caulfield12
If CLE throttles us this weekend at home, that could be the end. 5 1/2 back if things continue where they are at the moment tonight, 4 1/2 behind Tigers.
