If I had to guess...the biggest issue with Quentin on the trade market right now would be Beltran. Beltran is more certain to be moved and teams that think they're in on him won't be in on Carlos until, well, Carlos is moved.

That last part is confusing since they both have the same first name.

Beltran is also going to cost a team a lot more than Q.

In what sense?

Would you give up more talent for a guy who is a FA at the end of the year and won't be offered arbitration like Beltran? He'll be more expensive this year, but Quentin is on the book for 2 years. Quentin should be more expensive in both total dollars and in talent cost.

Thanks for that stat.

Another example of us eating our own on here.

Or maybe wanting a little more consistency from someone who has the talent to play better than he does? He's made some huge strides this year though (hitting LHP and defensively)

Yes but you'd think the stat people on here would be worshiping CQ cause of the stat mentioned.

Kenny is in a holding pattern on the off chance they win their next 6.

He's way if he things that's the case. Unless this team could pitch 6 shut outs in a row because we know the offense isn't going to do anything.

Terry Boers Sox contact says Sox are "desperate" to trade Quentin and Jackson, and that top prospects arent being offered for either player. Says 7 teams have been in contact about those two players

That will change once the trade deadline gets close. 9 days away. Not sure of all the other hitters and pitchers that are available in trades, but once the first trade is made, other teams will begin to feel the heat to get something done.

That won't change. Quentin and Jackson aren't players you give up your top prospects for unless you have the Brewers or WSox system.

It depends on what were looking for as a top prospect. You're not getting Bryce Harper, but you should be able to get guys with solid careers ahead of them.

Coming from the guy that did nothing but complain about Carlos once he was selected to the ASG. "Look at his average!!" "Will he be hitting at .240 by the time the ASG is here?!?!"

Someone finally understands the limitations of sabermetrics and wrote a very good article about it.

http://www.lookoutlanding.com/2011/7/20/22...th-sabermetrics

Problem is the author makes the same mistake that he accuses pro-sabr people of making; he provides zero evidence except for a brief foray into discussing triples, without even analyzing why triples are such an odd stat. He just doesn't like the sabr people but he doesn't have any good reason why either.

I'm starting to think greg has multiple personality disorder. This dude is crazy.

I would be very surprised if the Sox coouldn't get a solid prospect for Quentin. I know the issue is the $$$ that he is expected to make next year.

I would think that the Angels, Oakland, Seattle, Philadelphia, Atlanta,Pittsburgh, S.F. and Cincy would all be interested. A lot of those teams have many good prospects in their systems.

The Astros are asking for multiple impact players in any deal involving Hunter Pence, according to Jon Heyman, Jayson Stark and Buster Olney. Pence earns $6.9MM this year and is due for a raise this offseason, when he could see his salary jump to the $10MM range. He'll earn another raise for the 2013 campaign before hitting free agency that offseason. Here's the latest on Pence, who is one of few impact hitters available:

The Phillies are targeting Pence, but the price for him is rather high, writes CSNPhilly.com's Jim Salisbury. Houston would probably want a package that begins with Domonic Brown. The Phillies might also have to include another top talent along with him.

If Pence is making $2 million more than CQ this year and will make at least $1.5-2 million more than Quentin in 2012, why shouldn't the White Sox be getting a very good prospect back for him? Maybe not #1-30 or so, but there's absolutely no reason we shouldn't get a consensus Top 30-80 guy or a COUPLE of Top 6-10 prospects from an organization with a lot of minor league depth.

Besides Beltran, who's out there? And Beltran's going to cost 2.5X as much in terms of additional payroll added on...

Will White Sox go all in?

Acquiring the Cubs' hot Ramirez makes perfect sense for an AL playoff push.

http://www.thonline.com/sports/other_sport...63ef7522eb.html

He could win the division for the Sox. I know he's expensive, but he'd fill a gaping hole and would add a boost to the team that could get them over the top.
