southsider2k5
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) It was a pitch out on a hit and run. Why swing?
southsider2k5
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) Disagree, it's cause they've given up hope in Morel. No way. If that was the case, Omar would be over there.
Dick Allen
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) Why swing? He threw the bat at the ball hoping either to A. make a little contact so the guy wasn't a dead duck or B. distract the catcher.

Jack Parkman
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) Jackson has no out pitch but had the best k/9 of anyone on the Sox staff. I guess we have really high expectations. His slider is 87-90 mph and his fastball is 94-96 mph. There is not enough velocity difference between his fastball and slider to consistently get swings and misses. Instead the hitters are out in front of the pitch and they are getting a piece of the slider. I've been thinking the whole season that if he could take enough off of his slider to get it in the 84-86 mph range then he would rack up the Ks. Dick Allen
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) Its a waste. Whatever. If he got lucky the bat would have somehow hit the ball and it would have probably been foul and the Sox would still have a runner on base. It was worth the gamble of a strike.
