Colby Rasmus Trade Rumor

I thought this was especially interesting considering the current White Sox fan debate over coaching. From espn.com:

Cardinals manager Tony La Russa has lost faith in Rasmus, in part for his tendency to use outside coaching help for his hitting.

Yeah, well I'd look elsewhere too if my "hitting coach" was history's biggest roid-fraud.

The deal could make the Sox better this year. Right now Rios/Dunn have been bad. If you bring in Rasmus he can play CF (Rios gets more days off) and some days you can have Rios in RF with CQ DH (Dunn gets more days off). You also can try and play match ups more etc. Jackson has definitely been solid, but the Sox need to score more runs consistently if they want to win.

+1. Good post.

Huh? That would be terrible and the final nail in Kenny's coffin.

Plus, KW loves Viciedo.

Viciedo is going no where.

(Am I the only one that finds it hilarious that Dayan & Alexei are our only international signings and now mean so much to this team?)

Could the Cards be sold on adding Teahen to the deal? He might thrive under La Russa and in that offense. They really don't have an everyday third basemen.

Do you think they will bench Freese for Teahen?

They aren't our only international signings, just our two "big fish" that we have gotten, unless you count Silverio.

I think I'd be in. We have an abundance of left handed relievers and I'd be happy to get something for Jackson.

Rasmus has Sizemore-like potential and he showed a lot of it last year. Unfortunately, he seems like a pretty high maintenance guy at the plate, which could translate into bad results here in Chicago, especially if Walker's still the hitting coach.

Love this, if it happens.

Rasmus could turn out to be our CF for the next decade. Question then becomes, how the hell do we get rid of Rios?

You don't. Nobody's taking that contract. You let him sit on the bench for the rest of the year, this season's lost for him anyhow.

Jackson and Teahen to the Cards for Rasmus, Quentin and Pierre to Atlanta for Beachy and someone else?

If this was the case, I'd be looking forward to next year ALOT.

The prospect Cardinals are after is Addison Reed. Check it out on their message boards. Jackson, Thorton, and Reed for Rasmus. I'd try not to give up Reed because I think he will be Thorton's replacement if a trade is done. Reed is too valuable.

Overpayment in my view.

Now that seems a bit much...

I think I'll do either Thornton or Reed, but not both.

I'd have done Jackson and Thornton for Rasmus, let alone one plus a prospect. That is, of course, as long as the prospect isn't Viciedo. Rasmus would go a long ways to making me happier.

Could we also somehow get Dunn and Rios off our hands? Maybe like a fresh start.

Would you guys do Jackson or Thornton plus Reed for Rasmus? Cause I probably would.

That's excessive. This franchise is in no position to deal future cost-controlled talent. Reed has been disgusting this year.

I don't want to give up Reed either. That's too steep IMO.

Jackson, Thornton, AND Reed? Oh man, that would be a hard one to swallow, but assuming Rasmus can figure it out again, it would be a good trade for both teams.

That's a moderately big If now though. I mean, 2 years ago, we said about a different talented CF with a bad attitude that "IF he could get it back together he could be a big boon in CF".

I mean if we were going to use Reed as trade bait it would be for a better bat than Rasmus

Let's not kid ourselves with the value that Reed has, he's a RP prospect and those don't have a ton of value except in rare circumstances. He has more value to the Sox than anything, but that doesn't mean you'll get more for him.
