HuskyCaucasian
KW clearly has naked pictures of Reinsdorf or something. "All In" to possible youth movement in 6 months? Someone needs to not keep their job, and it isnt Ozzie.

GoSox05
I wonder why the Blue Jays would go after Edwin Jackson. They aren't making the playoffs this year.
WHarris1
QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:17 AM) Over on the Jays board, they speak of 1B David Cooper who wasn't in the lineup last night and was filled in by Adam Loewen who is Las Vegas' regular RF. David Cooper is a pretty decent prospect by looking at his #s in AAA. That would seem too good to be true... .367/.434/.564/.999, 39! 2Bs, 41 BB:30 K

David Cooper is a pretty decent prospect by looking at his #s in AAA. He has very good plate discipline. Was a former 1st rounder as well. (liked him comming out a couple years back) Not a bad guy to nab, though the 1B/Dh position is blocked here so we'll see what KW does there. southsideirish71
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:21 AM) I wonder why the Blue Jays would go after Edwin Jackson. They aren't making the playoffs this year. 1.) Because if they are using him for draft picks Edwin will decline arbitration. He is a boras client after all. 2.) They most likely are going to take Edwin + a spec or two and spin him for something of more value. Rasmus maybe?

"All In" to possible youth movement in 6 months? Someone needs to not keep their job, and it isnt Ozzie. The sox can make trades and still be competitive-it's not all or nothing. A youth movement means a rebuilding that would take years for them to compete. In the AL Central, the sox could trade half their major league roster and still compete in the Central. DirtySox
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:21 AM) That would seem too good to be true... .367/.434/.564/.999, 39! 2Bs, 41 BB:30 K Despite his numbers this year, Cooper isn't thought of as much of a prospect. It would be a pretty abysmal return.

Baron
I love this on mlbtraderumors "The rumor was first reported ten hours ago on Twitter by a fellow named Doug Seyller" lol
NorthSideSox72
Value-wise, depending on the minor leaguer and any potential money movement, this is not crazy out of whack. But I REALLY don't get the push for a RH reliever right now being a priority. By itself, this move makes no sense for the Sox to me, when the bullpen is just not a major concern for the team. So I have to think one of these two things must be true, if this trade is really happening: 1. KW is white-flagging for 2011 and shedding salary, in which case more trades are coming or 2. This is part of a complex of deals, where the money freed up and the prospect gained are used to acquire someone else to make the team better One of those just has to be true. whtsoxfan
The White Sox are in serious talks for a deal that would send starter Edwin Jackson and third baseman Mark Teahen to the Blue Jays for reliever Jason Frasor and a prospect, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The rumor was first reported ten hours ago on Twitter by a fellow named Doug Seyller. Sox pitchers John Danks and Gavin Floyd are also on the market, according to Rosenthal http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/toronto_blue_jays/index.html
Donny Lucy's Avocado Farm
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:21 AM) I wonder why the Blue Jays would go after Edwin Jackson. They aren't making the playoffs this year. They traded for Miguel Olivo in the offseason even though he was a free agent, strictly for the draft compensation, so it wouldn't surprise me. Why they would want Teahen (if the Sox aren't sending $$$ along with him) is a surprise.

I agree Cooper is not considered a Top Prospect even though he's tearing up Triple A. He's hitting in the best offensive minor league ballpark in Las Vegas. Toronto's Triple A team is batting .304 in Las Vegas. Cooper is a bench player at best.
Princess Dye
If no one wants EJax then it's great we dumped Teahen for a prospect. If they do want EJax but they all want to add to our future payroll, then I guess that'd be disappointing. But not tons -- since I still haven't heard what the great haul is we're supposed to get for Edwin. STL seems to want tons for Rasmus. WHarris1
It's funny because if all of the sudden it turned out we were getting a nice young prospect back it would be pretty cool, but it's not even worth considering that that would happen
