I don't see how they will pull this off because De Aza is up...they need a corresponding move.

nitetrain8601
As others have noted, this simply means they have been told to dump salary. I'm sure the Jays would get a better deal for Jackson alone.
GoSox05
If this deal does go down. Let me just say what a pleasure is was to watch Mark Teahen on the south side. Good luck and thanks for the great baseball!!!
Soxbadger
Im pretty sure that saving $2.5 mil this year and $6mil next year arent really huge concerns when the Sox dont have to bring back MB/Jackson, can trade Danks, Floyd, etc. So it cant just be about dumping Teahen because there are ways to slash your payroll and get talent back, which is a far better investment than just dumping money with your better players. Just an odd deal for both teams if it happens. Its not like the Blue Jays are rich enough to start absorbing contracts.

But I still think that something is getting lost in translation here. This has got to be misinformation. If it's not, and we don't get a premium prospect, and we won't, then I will be finished with this regime and you won't find me defending them any longer. Good thing u didn't agree for the 5K bet with the other poster last night that this trade is BS
HuskyCaucasian
@SI_JonHeyman - Word is, #bluejays may spin e-jax to #stlcards if get him from #chisox @DKnobler - I hear if Edwin Jackson, Teahen go to Toronto, good chance they don't stay there (i.e. get flipped to third team). And yes, third team would likely be Cardinals (Rasmus)

whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:05 AM) Because this is Edwin Jackson's value. Compared to picking up a pitcher off the waiver wire, he might be worth at best 2 wins this year, maybe more likely 1. To get that extra win, a team also has to pay a couple million dollars. They get the joy of a sandwich pick in exchange for him as well, but that doesn't net anything for years and may not even happen since the CBA is up this year. Dumping $9 million or so (or $5 m illion if we pick up Frasor's option) Is edwin Jackson's value. Are you ready to retract this post if the new rumor is right and Edwin is flipped for Rasmus? Clearly if the Jays want Rasmus they're going to have to include something with a lot of value. More thahn anything the Sox would give up. hogan873
Was there a roster spot already open for DeAza? Or has something else gone down ahead of the potential trade?

If he's flipped straight up, that'd be fairly pathetic. IF he's flipped along with some other legit piece, then no.

De Aza starting means someone has been dealt.

Soxbadger
Or it could be another trade because technically this trade opens up 2 spots. There could be another deal that opens 1 spot, or they could be DLing Lilli. Its all speculation.

Steve9347
SI_JonHeyman Jon Heyman Edwin jackson would help #cardinals. 3-team trades are tough. If jays gm alex can pull one off, hats off to him. If the Jays land Rasmus with our player I will be done, however.
WHarris1
I will say regardless of how f***ing terrible this might end up or how awesome, I'm sure as s*** glad to have some interesting stuff going on. If the Jays get Rasmus for little more than Jackson I am going to bash my face through a wall, however.
