DirtySox
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:57 AM) So, lets say Pence goes to ATL for some pitching. We then have: Phils Red Sox Reds in the mix for Quentin. The Reds have some catching prospects that interest me. Reds yes. Grandal all over my face. Jordan4life_2007
The Reds primary focus has been SP. I haven't heard much about them looking for bats. Though I'd love either one of their two catching studs.

The Reds are in on Pence, but he's the Phillies' to lose, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (on Twitter). maggsmaggs
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:49 AM) It's not unprecedented for a player around his age to just lose it. Especially one who doesn't take conditioning and off-season work as seriously as others.

Jordan4life_2007
Yikes! Would that be the best defensive OF ever? Pence, Stubbs and Bruce? Although Pence's arm would be kinda wasted in LF.
DirtySox
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 12:06 PM) Is Alonzo playing the OF these days? Yes. He's also a pretty bad defender though. They called him up when they traded Gomes. Dusty indicated Alonso will be coming off the bench.
hogan873
The Pirates were mentioned once a possible suitor, but I find that hard to believe. They could make a minor move, like for Derrick Lee. However, they must have a decent farm system since they've been in a rebuilding phase longer than many SoxTalk posters have been alive. dyuen
QUOTE (chunk23 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:46 AM) Prior to this season, Dunn was one of the most consistent hitters in baseball. It's not ridiculous to expect him to turn it around, once and if his BABIP ever returns to career norms. Looking at his numbers, it's just impossible to explain why he's been this bad. I know I expect him to turn it around any day now. I've said that all season and I'll keep saying it. Dont you actually have to put the ball in play for BABIP to matter? Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 12:10 PM) The Pirates were mentioned once a possible suitor, but I find that hard to believe. They could make a minor move, like for Derrick Lee. However, they must have a decent farm system since they've been in a rebuilding phase longer than many SoxTalk posters have been alive. It's a lot better than decent. But it would be foolish for them to make any major moves. They're not going anywhere in the postseason if they get there. Which I don't think they will. They need to stick with their current plan.

I doubt they would. Dom Brown would be going to a different team for prospects that Astros like as much or more than Atlanta's, would be my guess.
