oldsox
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 06:39 AM) Danks has just 3 strikeouts in his last ten games (32 AB) with 4 walks and a 900+ OPS It's difficult to predict rosters in 2012, but Danks has a good chance of making Sox roster. Pierre figures to be gone, Lillibridge ????, Danks can play CF and seems to be improving and will be verry cheap.

The Elf will be around unless traded, he's proven to be an excellent backup so far, and D2 hasn't clearly outhit him. I'd guess that, unless D2 suddenly flashed enough in these next 2 months to convince everyone that his K-rate has dropped dramatically, he'll get one more shot at Charlotte next year as a starter. After that, who knows, D1 will probably be gone anyway.

If for nothing else than as a defensive replacement

If for nothing else than as a defensive replacement Is Charlotte on pace for any playoffs? If not, yeah he'll be up and playing some, but he's not going to earn a starting job for next year, and it seems really unlikely that they'll keep him on the roster as a backup OF instead of giving him 500 more minor league at bats (unless something crazy happens and D1 offers a huge discount for his brother being in the bigs). When I made my post, I wasn't even thinking about D1. I think he has improved this year, he should get another 100++ AB's, ST next year. He should be a solid 4th outfielder in 2012. better than Lillibridge, and cheap.

If D2 is never going to be anything but a backup OF, then there's no harm in using him as a backup OF next year. If there's any hope of him developing into a starter, then he needs to start the season at AAA playing everyday.
