caulfield12
We jinxed the game thread yesterday. Who was the one who'd started it the last two "DeAza" victories in a row? Well....I guess you can say Ozzie putting Rios back out there had more of an effect than the SoxTalk jinx.

At least Dunn isn't batting 4th today, although 5th isn't that much better
maggsmaggs
So we got our automatic 0-8 between our fifth and sixth hitters, that is always a great start to a game. I don't understand the Rios s***. He is brutal, but more importantly, he dogs it in the field. Him giving less than 100% alone should keep him on the bench in perpetuity.
Paulstar
Ozzie should be fired for how he has made up the lineups for the past month and a half.

If that run last night doesn't earn a benching then what will? Does he have pictures of Oney or something?
JohnCangelosi
That's a pretty weak lineup 5-9, no wonder we're around .500. Hard to sustain any type of winning streak when you really don't have much of anything with the exception of your 2,3, and 4 hitter in today's case. Even with a weak lineup, with the way our pitching staff has performed over the last two months or so, we have definitely not won as many games as we should have. JohnCangelosi
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 11:33 AM) Last night was the first game since the ASB that we shouldn't have won. That's a good point. Of course, Ozzie's decision making really cost us several times in this stretch, and a few of them were no brainers (to pull Jake at home, to NOT pitch to Martinez, etc)

Yoda
I wonder sometimes how I have a 5-0 Sox record when I'm in attendance . . . I had the opportunity to go this afternoon but after last night's game I completely passed up on that. . .

caulfield12
Verlander, of course, has a no hitter through 5 against the Angels. Royals will tease us by leading the Indians early and collapse late. You'd have to say Verlander, Weaver and Sabathia are clearly the 3 best pitchers in the AL if not in all of baseball.

caulfield12
Maybe Ed Farmer singing "Don't Stop Believing" at the Journey concert last night will bring us luck... Or not. Tinley Park. Can Dunn actually come through with a big hit against a lefty? We'll soon find out. Probably a walk. OFC, the K. Sigh. WHEN WILL IT ALL MERCIFULLY END??
