macsandz
Kenny was all set to blow up this disaster of a roster, but then the boys go on an 8-4 push out of the break. Convinced the team is finally going to turn it around, KW dumps a bit of payroll and leaves the team intact. What a f@cking mess.
southsideirish71
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) Kenny was all set to blow up this disaster of a roster, but then the boys go on an 8-4 push out of the break. Convinced the team is finally going to turn it around, KW dumps a bit of payroll and leaves the team intact. What a f@cking mess. In 2007 we went on this little mini-run at the end of the year when draft position probably meant more than the record.

Yeah. Because we could have watched Posey's career bust.
whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) Yeah. Because we could have watched Posey's career bust. Haha indeed. We'd have screwed up whoever we took in the 2008 draft anyways, regardless of how high the pick was.
fathom
I blame De Aza. We lost last Wednesday's game, and KW is probably more willing to sell.
caulfield12
Except who was Quentin going to be sold to, exactly? Thornton's overpaid for a set-up guy unless you're the Yankees paying R. Soriano $10+ million per appearance. That leaves trading Danks/Floyd/Buehrle. And Trading Danks or Buehrle really would have set off a fan rebellion/boycott. If they want to sell any season tickets next year...the worst they can do is trade one out of Quentin/Floyd/Danks and/or simply not resigning Mark. Two or more of those guys are gone, it's clearly a rebuilding season whether they like it or not. That will be the perception. And we'll be 25th in MLB attendance or worse, since our tickets across the board are priced 3rd or 4th highest in the majors.
