caulfield12
QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 12:56 PM) Enjoying watching a baseball game with my son. Teaching him to keep score. My enjoyment of baseball isn't tied to winning. Granted it's more fun if they win that day but that isn't the only reason. A day at the ballpark is better than a day almost anywhere else. Then I would take him to a minor league game. You can get to know most (well, not the first round draft picks, they've already developed an attitude) of the players personally....get autographs, catch a foul ball...the promotions and contests are fun for the kids. It's a much purer and more enjoyable form of baseball in many ways, because you see all these kids chasing the dream and even though only 3-4% are going to make it, the feeling is just completely different. Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 02:04 PM) A bad day at the ballpark is better than a good day just about anywhere else. I agree with 2k5 here. Even if I can just drink 15 beers and hit on hot latinas, that's enough for me.

I can't argue with that. I can get my family of 4 to a Gary Railcats game for what it costs me to park at a White Sox game.

I really like the minor league games. When I worked for the Kane county cougars, I took my kids to almost every game. They really liked it. It was a much more fun atmosphere. The only downside is that the quality of baseball just isn't quite there. There still isn't anything quite like a major league baseball game to watch. bighurt574
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 01:45 PM) I am going to go out on a limb here and go against popular sentiment. I am looking forward to seeing Viciedo up at some point, but I doubt he is our super hero in waiitng. He may produce and help us win, but I think it's unfair and unrealistic to put the burden of winning it all on this fellow's shoulders. We may be expecting too much and will be greatly disappointed. He doesn't have to be the savior, he only has to perform better than the guy he'd be replacing -- who is hitting around .160. Not a difficult task. South Side Fireworks Man
QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 04:35 PM) He doesn't have to be the savior, he only has to perform better than the guy he'd be replacing -- who is hitting around .160. Not a difficult task. Many people (I believe including Rongey) have said that if only Rios and Dunn were having merely bad years instead of the absolutely horrid years they've been having, the Sox would be right near the top of this division. Well I'm sure De Aza can produce a "bad" Rios year and Viciedo can produce a "bad" Dunn year and I'm absolutely certain they can by far outproduce what those two have been doing this year. The answer is so simple yet the Sox refuse to make a change to give the team a shot to win. hi8is
Viciedo was 0 for 4 today with 3 strike outs. A little rusty, indeed. Hell, bring him up - at least we know that he can match Dunn's production.
South Side Fireworks Man
Too bad they wasted his being "locked in" for months in Charlotte. Now that he's in a funk due to the thumb injury they'll probably be bringing him up soon. greg775
I forgot about longing for Tank cause it's obvious Sox won't let him play in the bigs this year. He'll be a September call up and rarely play. Next year is a different story. They'll let Pierre go without resigning him and it'll be Tank time. Obviously the plan was to keep him in the minors all year. I disagree with it but I got over it cause they wouldn't bring him up.
