Well, the second question took care of itself in the delay before my

reply.

The first, to be honest, is that I have only second-person reports,

which I

consider rumors not worth writing about. I think we'll start getting to

the

facts next weekend at the winter meetings but I won't be surprised if

Williams moves slow to see what can happen in trades or

arbitration-eligible

guys who don't get offered contracts on Dec. 20.

Wish I could tell you more.

Phil

Subject: White Sox questions

Phil,

I have two questions:

1.)Do you have any reports that Kenny Williams is actually talking to

any free agent pitchers?

2.) Is there any done deal with Frank Thomas? Is he coming back to the

South Siders? In your opinion do you think he's coming back?

Thanks for the note.

One of the guys the Sox will get is a left-handed pitcher named Neal

Cotts,

who is was a second-round pick from Illinois State in the 2001 draft.

He's a

legitimate prospect. I'd expect the other will be less highly regarded.

Hope this helps a little. Thanks for the note. And for reading the

Tribune.

Hello Phil,

Yes, of course I heard about the Foulke/Koch trade. I was interested in

knowing what the tribune had heard about those two players to be named

in the deal. If any information could be said, I'd appreciate the info.

Also, I was wondering if you heard any more on the ChiSox's pitching

situation. My friend and I are wondering whats next up KW (Kenny

Williams') sleeve.

If you could, will you ask him if the Sox offered Ritchie abitration and if he has any idea of what the Sox plan to have the payroll at for next year.

I'm hoping for 55 mill, cause then they'd definately be able to bring in 2 more pitchers without moving anyone.
