The riots are going to result in using this authoritarian crack-downs in the UK. they're already talking about limiting social networking sites. Pretty hilarious given how vital of a role they played in the Arab Spring and how their ability to thwart oppressive governments' attempts to block communication was widely cheered in the West. San Francisco BART shuts down cell service to try to cut off protests over that police shooting a few months ago. Some reports out there say that this move may have been illegal on their part. StrangeSox
There's a whole lot of racism coming out of this, but this might take the cake: Mr Frost wrote on August 10 - three days after writing "jungle bunnies" on his Facebook wall - that he had been phoned up and accused of racism. He posted: "I have just had a phone call that accused me of racism for my above posting. "Looking at the dictionary it would appear that the term jungle bunnies is pejorative and is a racist slur relating to African-Americans. "Needless to say I did not mean to use any offensive racist term and was referring to the urban jungle." He added: "As for the bunny bit it was originally 'animals', but I thought people might object to me calling fellow humans this so I chose something I thought was innocent and also cuddly." Yeah, I always think of "innocent and cuddly" things when I look at rioters.
