White Sox vs. Royals

Flowers has impressed me these last couple games. He's still not an average defensive catcher, but he made a nice play on that foul ball earlier this inning and seems to call a decent game. Danks is working quickly and not shaking Tyler off. Throw in two good offensive games in a row and I'm starting to turn the corner on Flowers. I was really down on him with all the minor league strikeouts, but I've come to peace with the fact that he can be an acceptable backup catcher. I doubt he'll be an everyday player, but he's a Major Leaguer. I wasn't so sure earlier.

Juan is a terrible baseball player who happens to have good contact skills. One redeeming quality does not make him much less of a terrible player. At his best, he is average.

Last season he played the best OF of his life and was around average, so this is pretty much accurate.

Who on this team is a "good" baseball player? Tell me.

Ramirez, Konerko, Quentin, and a lot of the pitchers.

Maybe Lillibridge if he doesn't turn into a pumpkin with more PT.

OK, Lexi Konerko and Quentin are good baseball players. No wonder we have a s***ty team with just three good players.

I guess a .500 record is pretty damn good with just three good players.

Did you miss the phrase "A lot of the pitchers"?

Anwyay, you're actually right, the fact taht 5 of the spots in our lineup have been s***ty is why we're struggling to reach .500.

I've been talking everyday players, not pitchers.

My bad if he wants to talk pitchers too.

One might argue Ozzie is manager of the year not a bum with just three good everyday players to work with.

Except for the fact that 4 of those guys ought to be producing better than they are...which is supposedly why you keep a manager around who isn't a great tactical manager, to "motivate" players, to "get the best" out of players. Which he's clearly abjectly failed at.

So some of those other guys are "good" baseball players just not producing currently? Just wondering.

In the day and age of Sabes I would think some of the people I'm arguing with would say those other players are NOT good baseball players. Cause their standards are pretty high if Juan is not considered "good" and in fact more than one calling him "terrible."

Yes. Gordon Beckham, Adam Dunn, Alex Rios, these are talented players who are in teh lineup almost everyday who are not producing.
