“@Buster_ESPN: SPs who have cleared waivers: Capuano, Vargas, Gorzelanny, Lopez, Arroyo, Zambrano, Chen, Wang, Lilly.” KW's time of year.

Yeah except that trading for a starting pitcher right now would be hugely counter productive. Quite frankly, trading for anything right now would be counter productive on either front. Just let it ride.

I posted that as FYI, instead of for the Sox really.

Either 2k5 really loves this twitter thing or he's freaked out that someone is now less than 10k posts behind him.

Twitter is a great source of info so we can have discussions other than who to fire and who sucks. Plus it makes sense to have this all in one thread. I'll let you worry about that omni-present post count.

Before we leave the Cubs, you can ignore all rumors about them trading Reed Johnson or Kerry Wood via a waiver deal this month. Other clubs say both players were blocked and pulled back.

Carlos Pena's name still hasn't shown up on the waiver wire, those clubs report. But teams that have spoken with the Cubs say they seem no more interested in moving Pena now than they were in July, unless they get something back that makes it worth their while. We were told by one source with numerous friends on the Cubs: "That's a bad clubhouse. And he's one of the few guys holding it together."
