Winterizing U.S. Cellular Field Being Priced Out

Checked with my guy about this today, he said nothing is imminent, Just that the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority wants the option to stage winter events there. Don't know enough about the Bears lease, but presumably they can block college football games from being played at Soldier Field if they believe it will harm the playing field.

Beer has long been a social lubricant at tailgate parties in college-campus parking lots during football season. Increasingly, that party is moving inside the stadium.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette this weekend expects to allow fans for the first time to buy beer inside "The Swamp," as the school's stadium is known. The city of Memphis, Tenn., began selling beer last weekend at the city-owned Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, home field for the University of Memphis. And both the University of Akron and the University of Maryland this season are selling beer for the first time in the high-dollar luxury suites in their respective stadiums.

No beer is allowed to be sold at any collegiate sports event. This rule was implemented a few years ago.

That is false. They sold beer at Wrigley for UI/NW football last year, they always sell beer at the Illinois basketball games at the United Center. They sell beer at the Rose Bowl.

Alcohol cannot be sold on campus at any collegiate sporting event.

U of Minn sold beer at Metrodome because it wasn't on campus and was a pro stadium.

Sorry, wrong again.

Alcohol sales are discouraged but not banned.

Any college can sell beer at any game in any section of the stadium, but most choose not to.

Doesn't winterizing a bathroom mean you are getting it ready to not be used, as they do in foreclosures, real estate sales, etc.

I think in this case it means the opposite. Instead of closing it down for the winter, they are fixing them so that they can be used in the winter.
