At least IMO, the General Manager's position is to be the dominant guy in the organization. He should be the decision maker for everything except hiring/firing the GM. Everything baseball related...the roster, the scouts, the manager, the players, should be decided by him.

 

You can have a President above him who also oversees marketing and financial aspects in other ways, but the buck should stop at the GM's desk for the product on the field.

 

If you do otherwise, then you're letting the business side have too much influence on making baseball decisions.
