I'm not sure.

Turn it around and ask it the other way...is KW the kind of person who would walk out on JR over a dispute about Ozzie?

If JR told him that he is only GM in name and Ozzie will make all the decisions, then yes I do think he would have walked out or resigned a while ago..

I honestly think that KW is trying to give HIS moves all the time in the world to work out so he can satisfy himself..

If the scenario was:

KW has no authority right now to fire Guillen because of an edict from ownership,

Consequently, KW has no authority right now to force Guillen to follow his instructions (because he can't fire him for open defiance of KW's decisions), and

Guillen makes clear that he will not play Viciedo if he's called up, he'll bench the kid like he did last year, and maybe insult/run him down a bit for good measure

Then KW's hands are tied from above and below in the org.

We have no idea if this is really accurate.

Sample size, gentlemen.

Definitely. I wonder if the organization has made a similar mistakes since some of the prospects have come up and and failed almost to the point of being out of baseball.

Viciedo still needed to learn how to catch a baseball and it looks like he was better off working with the hitting coach in the minors. With Kenny signing Dunn there was no roster spot.

Too much is being read into Ozzie/KW and the roster. It's probably like most every other team. The GM supplies the players and lets the manager run the everyday team. I'm sure KW gets Ozzie's input in helping form the roster, like any GM would. The only problem I see is Ozzie being too loyal to veteran players who struggle. I can see giving them time to work it out but, at some point you have to try something new. It worked out well with Pierre but not so much with Dunn and Rios. I don't think Cashman and Epstein are telling Francona and Girardi who to play and who to bench. This season has stunk and everyone is looking for someone to blame. I blame the players for not palying to their capabilities.

And we have seen him run Dunn and Rios out there anyway, no matter who is hot behind them or available.

I don't understand how people can argue this Rios/Dunn stuff?

My god. Do you know how much money they make?? How many years are left on their deals? They play. I hate it as well but that's baseball.

You really think our new manager next year is going to sit Rios and Dunn if they get off to s***ty starts? They will play.

Anybody else remember the "Joba rules"?

Yeah, I think Cashman tells people who to play.

You really think Cashman was telling Joe Torre how to run his team? They may have had a consensus between the two but Cashman wasn't dictating anything.

In '05, Ozzie would have benched them.

Detroit picked up another two games on the Indians this week and opened up a full six-game lead on Chicago, as well. The Tigers used the week to jump 10.8 percentage points in the AccuScore projected standings to move to 92.6 percent likelihood of winning the AL Central. The White Sox finally called up prospect Dayan Viciedo(notes) to take some of Adam Dunn’s(notes) at-bats, but the move is probably a bit too late to have a meaningful positive impact. Carlos Quentin’s(notes) injury status also derails Chicago’s playoff hopes. The Sox now make the playoffs in just 4.8 percent of simulations. The Indians are now in third place in the real standings. Even with the acquisition of Jim Thome(notes), their lineup is currently more decimated by injuries than Chicago’s is. Cleveland is just 2.6 percent likely to win the division.
