BigSqwert
I wonder what goes through Reinsdorf's head when he flips the game on to see that Alex Rios is batting 4th.

BigSqwert
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 01:36 PM) Who thought he was worth acquiring again? Somehow I doubt he was acquired to be our cleanup hitter. EDIT: And again, for the thousandth time, Kenny told Ozzie to play his best players and to ignore their salaries. Balta1701
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 02:36 PM) Who thought he was worth acquiring again? A good fraction of this site, for one.

southsider2k5
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) It's always a great strategy to put in one of your worst hitters in the cleanup spot. I'm sure that is Kenny's fault though.

GoSox05
Rios shouldn't even be playing. Let alone be batting 4th.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 06:45 PM) This is when Ozzie kept trying to run DeWayne Wise out there as his CF. Little known fact is that they have his OPS on the wall as well. The problem is that it was so small, no one can see it.

Nice way to narrow it down to fit the narrative. It was .744 with Toronto and fell to .530 when he got the Sox, a drop of over 200 points. Good job at indicting Ozzie's job performance again Joe. With you in his corner, he can't possibly lose his job.

southsider2k5
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 02:04 PM) Doesn't change the fact that Kenny "The Genius" Williams outsmarted himself with the Rios claim. It absolutely does. When you acquire talented veteran players, and they have a pattern of regressing to have their career worst years when they get to Chicago, how does that indict the GM and not the manager? The GM gets the talent, and the Mgr gets them to perform. The talent is getting here, and then faceplanting when it does.

fathom
Rios struggling so much is also an indictment of Walker...and it's pathetic that neither Ozzie or KW have the guts to make a change.

Where was the warning? .684 OPS after the all-star break after an .878 OPS before the break. That could be construed as a warning. Though nobody could've truly predicted this kinda sucktitude. Marty34
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) Like he knew that Rios was going to return to being bad...? Rios had a very good 2010. Where was the warning? By the same token, if you believe he's the same player he was last year you have to play him regardless of what he's done the first 5 months of the season.
