BridgeportHeather
Does anyone know if this has been topped? The Sox have made up eight games in the past three weeks. I know it's still August, and there's still more baseball to be played. But, I wonder if anyone else has accomplished something like this in such a short period of time (other than the '69 Mets). Flash Tizzle
Sportscenter talked about the gain like it was no big deal. They said something like "The Sox were 7 1/2 behind Kc at the allstar break and now are 1/2 ahead in the AL Central." Proves to me everyone knows KC is a joke. And odd how Sportscenter calls the Cubs red hot after winning an AMAZING 4 games in a row. Doesn't matter, they lost night and Astros won. Oh yeah, your question: Only three teams (and possibly four) have overcome a 7 game deficit in their standing at the all star break and went on to win it. Dont know if anyone has done better. The '64 Cardinals had an amazing comeback against the Phillies. They made up a double digit decifit in about 2 weeks. I'm not sure of the details, as I was young then and am too old and lazy to look it up now.

Soxplosion
78 Yankees over the Red Sox would be number one. Or maybe it was 76. Ok, lets get this straightened out. 1976 was when Fisk waved his homerun fair but the BoSox lost the next day anyways. Then 78 was the Yankees big comeback where Bucky Dent hit his famous homerun over the monster. And finally 86 was the year Bill Buckner made that infamous error and the Mets won the WS. Can someone check up on that? Ive always been confused there...

clujer420
Weren't the '95 Mariners like 9 games behind the Angels with about 3 weeks to go and then beat the Angels in the 1-game playoff? I know it was a HUGE lead that California (now known as Anaheim) choked away.

Carbo's 3-run shot in the 8th was the big hit of that game. Pudge never would have had the chance for glory without it. What a great game that was. 1549
probably the greatest single celebration in sports history. It was so natural, unscripted, and so much just raw emotion coming out of fisk that it was great
