Marty34
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 02:20 PM) Maybe he's the kind of guy that doesn't recover well from poor defense behind him. Who knows how many of those walks and hits could have been avoided had Pierre played at least average defense in those games. Maybe Sqwert, Thornton not getting anyone out in April was cause for Pierre's bad defense. Can't have your fielders standing around in the cold. Pierre's .342 with runners in scoring position cannot be denied.
BigSqwert
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) Pierre's .342 with runners in scoring position cannot be denied. The guy is a leadoff hitter. How often is he up with RISP? And how did he do in that category in the crucial first 6 weeks? EDIT: 7 RBIs in April, 6 in May. What an impact! Milkman delivers
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) Maybe you should go back and actually watch some video footage of those games in April. Pierre directly affected Thorton's April by dropping several easy catches that wound up being blown saves. And why does it even matter? They both contributed heavily to the terrible start. Why is it always one guy or another on this site? It's Ozzie's fault, no it's KW's fault. They are both at fault. Same thing here.
Greg Hibbard
Let's say I just patently accept that Juan Pierre is 100% to blame for the three games this season in which he dropped a routine fly ball. Now, let's go ahead and ridiculously assign another 2 whole losses to him for his April offense. There, that's 5 of the 22 losses. Who are the other 17 on? How many routine fly balls have flicked off the glove of Mr. Cool, Rios, as well? Great post Hibb.
