This is either hyperbole or the White Sox have been pretty terrible when it comes to individual players over the team's entire history.

Hyperbole?

Look, the White Sox have won one World Series in 100 years or whatever it is.

Without him ... we do not win that one WS!

Conclusion: Yes, said player is a one of the greats in Sox history.

Look at pro football. You rarely get a Hall of Fame sniff w/out a Super Bowl title.

Joe Crede was crucial in us winning only WS in gazillion years. He is a Sox great.

Along with Willie Harris, Geoff Blum, Timo Perez, Shingo Takatsu, Dustin Hermanson, Cliff Politte, Neal Cotts, and Chris Widger.

And it's two titles in that 100-year time frame. Man, you're good at this.

Is there any doubt now why greg wants Ozzie back? lol. 2005. That's it for him. Ozzie has to literally die first before he would support a replacement.

Forgive me, but isn't it 3 title (1906, 1917 and 2005) in a 100 year time frame versus one in a gazillion?

I forgot about 06 and 17.

And Sox actually made it to the WS in 1959 I believe. Quite a drought after that.

You won't get me to utter a negative word about Joe Crede. I stand by my statement that we don't win that year w/out him.

How in the heck could Manning EVER consider playing again?

I mean baseball is much less contact, so much less, and Crede's back is wrecked.

Manning is going to get hit in the back a lot.

If he plays again he has a screw loose.

Isn't there danger in playing, ptatc?

Peyton Manning's problem is different.

He's disagreeing with you, along with the rest of the board, yet you love his post while getting defensive towards everybody else.

I guess I'm very very slow tonight (I'll argue not this slow most days)

He said "I still love Crede.

All time great Sox player?

No.

But love the guy."

I thought he meant he loved Crede, just disagreed on him being an all time great. I can accept it if haters say they do love the guy for what he did in 05. And a mod agreed with me we don't win it all w/out JOE CREDE.

The love some people have for Joe Crede and Aaron Rowand is ridiculous. Why is Carl Everett never brought up? That's a true White Sox legend.

At least Crede was a good player when healthy. Aaron Rowand only became popular by crashing into walls and he cost the Sox runs with bad defense in Sept 05. And Carl Everett hates dinosoars, but he moved Willie Harris over to 3rd in Game 4 in Houston.
