2012 schedule puts White Sox up against it

September, 14, 2011

By Doug Padilla

CHICAGO – At first glance, the 2012 schedule doesn’t seem to do the White Sox any favors as they start and end the season on the road.

In addition, they will have to make trips back from the Los Angeles area the day before both series openers against the Cubs.

The start of the second half looks particularly rugged as the White Sox will play just three home games from July 13-Aug. 1. They will also make a three-city trip in the middle of September to Minnesota, Kansas City and Los Angeles to face the Angels.

The interleague portion takes the White Sox to St. Louis and Los Angeles to face the Dodgers, as well as the annual trek to Wrigley Field. The Cubs, Houston Astros and Milwaukee Brewers visit U.S. Cellular Field.

The White Sox open the season April 6 with a three-game series at Texas before heading to Cleveland. Their home opener takes place April 13 against the Detroit Tigers.

The Red Sox visit U.S. Cellular Field from April 26-29, while the New York Yankees visit Aug. 20-22.

The schedule is tentative and subject to change. Game times and a complete broadcast schedule will be released at a later date.

Crap, my son's 4th birthday is in late April and I was hoping to take him to his first game, but the only weekend series near his b-day is against Boston, which will cost me an arm and a leg.

EDIT: Also, WTF is this making 4 trips to the West coast to play 15 games? JR needs to be chewing Bud's a** up and down for putting together a schedule like this?
