southsider2k5
Since there really isn't anything baseball-ish left to talk about for the Sox, how about this for a thread... Who was the biggest minor league man-crush you have ever had for a Sox guy who completely flopped and who was it?
SoxAce
Mine is obvious to those posters who have been here a while. (for those posters who don't know, it was my favorite prospect ever, Jeremy Reed) I don't know if you mean flopped as in got to the bigs and sucked or flopped as in was on the cusp in the system and got injured, but I was a big fan of Kris Honel back in the day. Shame what happened to him. Still think he would've been a damn good pitcher for us. I liked BA alot too, though more as in following him in an AAP, not as in actual man crush. So other than Reed, it was Honel.

southsider2k5
I totally bought into the AAA number for Bajenaru. I actually wanted him called up over Bobby Jenks. #reasonsIamnotaGM

NorthSideSox72
Ehren Wassermann. Also Ross Gload, though he did find a niche as a major leaguer.

southsider2k5
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 08:44 AM) Sosa when he first came up in 1989...aka The Panther at that time. Dude is essentially a Hall of Famer. I think you can call that one justified.
caulfield12
Okay...flops, Felix Diaz, Arnie Munoz and Jesus Pena. All the women had a crush on Kirk McCaskill, lol.
Balta1701
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 09:45 AM) Dude is essentially a Hall of Famer. I think you can call that one justified. Except for the use of the word "Dude" to describe him. I don't think that he counts as one any more.
caulfield12
As far as Sosa goes back then....it was his speed and arm and fielding ability I liked so much. Ironic that he became the opposite of that over time, a truly one-dimensional player. But with the White Sox, he was considered something of a flop and they discarded him for George Taco Bell. lasttriptotulsa
Definately Joe Borchard for me. Even tho he was garbage, I was still so pissed when they traded him for Thornton.

NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 10:48 AM) I really liked Ryan Wing when he was in the system before he had his arm problems I remember him. When he came back after missing basically 2 entire seasons, as a reliever, I thought he could be a Scott Radinsky type guy. Then OAK picked him up in the Rule V and put him AAA, and then I believe he went to Japan.

Quin
Haven't followed the farm system long enough to have a lot, but there are 3. Poreda (was sad to see him go for Peavy) Gordon (I almost bought a Beckham Knights road jersey they sold at the Cell a week before his call up) Viciedo (bought his shirt in 1 AB last year)
