Thanks a lot.

 

That is amazing. Only 2 homeruns in 100 IP.

 

They say you can tell a lot about a pitcher by how many homeruns and walks he gives up.

 

There was a very complicated formula in the book moneyball on assessing pitchers using homeruns walks and then adding on different kinds of hits.

 

For my own sake, I simplified it (I made it simply (BB+HR)/IP) and looked at a couple of pitchers and noticed that good pitchers stay below .400. The best of the best this year (Mulder, Mussina, Loiaza) are below .300. So I thought I would punch Cotts numbers in.

 

unfortunately the walks kill his number.
