Buehrle>Wood
This deserved its own thread, since they will be staying on. Rumor was 4 years for Cooper, which seems like a lot. I hope they are the only two that stay. Give the new manager some flexibility...
nitetrain8601
Baines should not stay. I still have yet to see what it is that he actually does.
chw42
Harold just stands at first base. But hey, at least he doesn't get in the way!
Texsox
The new manager should have had an opportunity to at least voice his opinion.
Buehrle>Wood
I'm fine with Baines as long as the new manager doesn't care. Him staying might be a hint at Alomar for manager if we want to keep that whole family organization thing going.
Balta1701
QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:14 PM) The new manager should have had an opportunity to at least voice his opinion. I can see why, with the track record, you'd insist on keeping Koop regardless of a manager's opinion. The other, I dunno why. Maybe the White Sox have been doing some tampering as well. Makes me think it's definitely Alomar who is the coach. Who else would be okay with the moves?

How do you know he hasnt? It was stated yesterday they are down to select few candidates.

Balta1701
QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:16 PM) If I was Coop, I'd turn it down until I knew who my new boss would be. Coop's supposedly quite the company man, which I'm sure helps...and frankly, I bet the Sox made it monetarily worth his while to stay. chw42
If everybody is staying put, I'm assuming we're going to hire somebody from within the organization already (probably Buddy Bell). Which is just disappointing...
Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:17 PM) 7 titles. And 6 of those he had nothing to do with.

Texsox
If I was KW hiring I'd be asking the candidates if they would want to retain Coop. Of course it is a trick question, I wouldn't hire someone who wanted to get rid of Coop.

Ozzie would still be here if he hadn't went short-bus.

whitesoxfan101
I have no problem with Coop staying. He's widely regarded as an elite pitching coach, and I don't think keeping him will kill our chances with any potential candidates. Baines staying is ehh...whatever. I don't think that will hurt our chances with anybody either. I'm going to lose my mind if they hire Buddy Bell as manager though. He's the only guy we could hire (that I can think of) which would be worthy of getting pissed off about. That would be a disaster IMO. As close to status quo as possible. Every other name I've heard mentioned so far, I'd be fine with. There's a long list of things that need to be fixed beyond the manager, and we at least need to get this move right.
