Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) How so? You have a blind obsession with Ozzie/Cowley. And I notice you've taken to Greg Walker recently (i.e. when it leaked out he and KW had a fight or whatever).
dmbjeff
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) Alomar is bad news if you want this organization to embrace a new way of thinking. How so? Former catcher's have gone on to have great success managing as they are a huge part of the game plan as player's and that carries over very well. Sandy has always been a good guy and I know Hawk always said he had manager material written all over him. I would be fine with him, especiallyf he can prove he understands advance baseball metrics, unlike Ozzie.
Marty34
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 07:59 PM) You have a blind obsession with Ozzie/Cowley. And I notice you've taken to Greg Walker recently (i.e. when it leaked out he and KW had a fight or whatever). I wanted Guillen gone. Dick Allen has made some excellent points in defense of Walker that Soxtalk just dismisses. People around here are quick to praise Cooper for Humber. What about Walker's role in Lillibridge turnaround or Morel's second-half? Crickets.
Kalapse
Both Dave Martinez (96/97) and Sandy Alomar Jr. (01) were teammates of Harold Baines' in a White Sox uniform.
Milkman delivers
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:13 PM) Baines should not stay. I still have yet to see what it is that he actually does. Seriously. I have no clue what this guy brings.
Milkman delivers
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) KW seems to want someone he can control as his new manager, so to me this just signifies the new guy in will be a "yes man" to KW, which totally sucks. I am already deflated hearing this news and what this really means Same here. I'm going to be extremely disappointed with Alomar.

Wanne
What would Martinez bring that Alomar wouldn't? Alomar garners some pretty good respect in the Indians dugout and org from what I can tell. Seems like some of you think he's just gonna come in here and be Kenny's Lackey. Experience. 4 years on the bench working closely with a great manager. That compared to Sandy's 2 years as a catching instructor and 2 years as a 1st base coach. I won't be upset should Alomar get the job, Dave Martinez just excites me more.

My gut feeling tells me though since we're stuck with a bunch of dead weight like Dunn and Rios...and if we still have veterans like AJ and Paulie around...Alomar would make a bit more sense from my perspective. JoeBatterz
Very glad to see Coop staying. Loved Baines as a player, but still wondering why he had his number retired and not sure what he brings as a coach.
