chisoxfan09
Would be interesting and really free the Flubs of another of their hideous contracts. I don't think it ill happen but who knows. Link: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2011-09...-coleman-padres Article: SAN DIEGO -- The Cubs reached the 90-loss mark for the sixth time in the last 15 seasons on Monday after a 2-0 loss to the Padres. Casey Coleman pitched well before tiring in the two-run sixth after tripling in the top of the inning. But the Cubs were held to two hits on the night by Mat Latos and the Padres bullpen. "It's been a long year and I got a little winded after that," Coleman said. Coleman finished with a 3-9 record and a 6.40 earned-run average, calling the year a "learning experience." Perhaps the only positive of the night for the Cubs was White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen leaving to ostensibly take the same job in Florida, which means the Cubs have a ready suitor to take Carlos Zambrano off their hands this offseason. Zambrano has one year remaining on his contract, but Chairman Tom Ricketts has already said that it's unlikely he'll play again for the Cubs. Zambrano is close friends with Guillen, and there's a good chance they could both take their talents to South Beach in 2012. Manager Mike Quade, whose future is also uncertain, didn't have much to say about Guillen's departure. "I know it's been rough over there," he said. "That's a whole different world that I have no interest in getting involved in. We've got enough stuff to deal with over here." Quade said Aramis Ramirez will likely be back in the lineup on Tuesday after missing the last five games with a sore right quad. Ramirez is leaving as a free agent and may also be interested in joining Guillen in Miami. The Marlins are moving into a new stadium and will have to boost the payroll in 2013 after making a big splash with Guillen. Leonard Zelig
I have heard that the Marlins are looking to sign a big name player to generate some interest this off season. I wonder if they go after Pujols.
Kyyle23
If Ozzie gets Zambrano and Pujols on the Marlins next year, they could do some serious damage. That isnt a team of spare parts, there is a lot of really good young talent on that team. Not unlike 97 and 02, if they mix in the right veterans, the Marlins could be extremely dangerous. And the Ozzie fans would go wiiiiild

fathom
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) It will be the death knell for that franchise. My opinion is that Prince is a safer bet than Pujols for a 7-8 year contract. Prince is just a great player.
Balta1701
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) My opinion is that Prince is a safer bet than Pujols for a 7-8 year contract. Prince is just a great player. I'm of the exact opposite opinion. Despite the age differences, I think Prince is going to get old in a hurry. chisoxfan09
I've seem some speculation that ARam could be a target. He has even stated his desire to go down to Miami to be closer to his home.
