chw42
There's a lot of speculation threads that say people are favoring this guy or another, but I'd like to see what Soxtalk thinks as a whole. So this is kind of a prediction/what do you want kind of thread. Edited September 28, 2011 by chw42
Marty34
Martinez. Alomar least appealing candidate with a legitimate chance.
daggins
Most -> Least 1. Martinez - Pedigree, ties, obvious favorite. 2. McEwing - Some success with the current crop of kids, would truly be a fresh start. 3. Coop - He seems to really want it. I don't doubt his ability i'd just rather have him as pitching coach. 4. Alomar - Best case - Mike Scioscia. Worst case, who knows. Probably somewhere in the middle. Mixed emotions. 5. Sandberg - This would be really, really funny. chw42
Looks like everybody likes Martinez. You know what that means...it won't happen.
justBLAZE
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 05:56 PM) Looks like everybody likes Martinez. You know what that means...it won't happen. It's funny because he could be a total bust, unless you dont really believe in managers having influence. Francona has the experiance. Sandy Jr will get the job. macsandz
Wow, Martinez is the consensus favorite...it's gonna be SAJr.

Dick Allen
I want Sandy to come back. Martinez can grow a sweet beard, but I don't know why being Maddon's bench coach automatically makes you a great candidate. He was kind of quiet as a player. I do like the fact Sandy was a catcher and a real big guy. I think he's a no BS guy who players would still find cool. I think he has most, if not all of Ozzie's good traits, without all the garbage that comes with it. He's a classy guy. I don't think he believes in having guys bunt who can't bunt, and if a guy isn't hitting, I don't think he'd be against hurting their feelings by either moving them down in the order or let them sit on the bench. Marty34
Per MLB Trade Rumors: When Joel Sherman of the New York Post asked people in the know about Terry Francona's job security, he expected to hear that the skipper had nothing to worry about, but he heard otherwise. Some say the Red Sox manager hasn't stopped his players from getting out of shape and that he has made certain players feel over-privileged. Sherman also hears that Francona feels "bulletproof" after winning two World Series and has stopped attending to some of his job's minor responsibilities Sounds like Tito has a lot in common with Guillen. knightni
I want someone under 45 who had to earn his stripes in the minors.
The Beast
I'd hire Sandberg to piss off the Cubs fans. "Your team sucked so bad their own alumni didn't want to manage the ballclub!" Alomar, Jr. would interest me but I think the job goes to D-Martinez. And I am one of the ones who voted Francona (since he has slight ties to the organization). Thad Bosley
Sort of surprised that LaRussa wasn't one of the options, since he has been rumored to be a possibility as much as anyone else.
