The only team I could see that would be legitimately interested in AJ Pierzynski as a starter is Pittsburgh, and that's if they think their first 4 months weren't an aberration and their final 2 months were. They're losing both of their decent catchers in Doumit (if you can even call him a catcher) and Snyder and even though I'm pretty sure they have a good catching prospect on the way, he's not there yet. You might get a pitching prospect from them, but more likely, they'll scrounge the free agents and pick up someone like Ramon Hernandez to try and catch lightning in a bottle.

I could list the reasons why all of those teams wouldn't want AJ, but that seems time consuming and unnecessary.

The best time to trade AJ would be at next year's deadline if the team is out of it and there is a team who needs a catcher due to injury.

Injury is the big asterisk when it comes to no one wanting AJ. Things could change if someone's starter goes down for a long time.

That of course is pretty unlikely to happen during the offseason, and the Sox aren't going to move him during Spring Training or April.

Man, that guy has fallen off something fierce. I remember when he was one of the best catchers around with a ton of hype going forward.

He's actually been pretty good the past couple years. I think it's a matter of full-time starting wearing him down, so he can only play 100 or fewer games.

I remember considering him one of the best in the game, and now he's splitting time.

Really? I always thought he was overrated as another Oakland hyped prospect at the time (this was after the Zitos, Hudsons, Chavez, Mulders, etc.. of the world came along and when the hype machine of the Hernandez, Crosbys, Swishers, etc.. of the world began, although I did like Crosby as a prospect at the time)

Since the Sox will only trade for Major League talent, is it safe assume the Sox will probably field the same team next season that is on the current 25 man roster?

Assuming of course they don't trade off Danks, Floyd, Quentin, etc

Remember...this is still trader Kenny.

And this is an offseason that could benefit from a shocker.

Danks or Floyd (maybe both, but likely at least one) and Quentin are going to be moved. Willams claims he wants only major league ready talent in return for trades, but it's possible that he could take back talent that's a year or two away from reaching the majors and still be able to field a starting rotation (Peavy, Buerhle (if resigned), Danks/Floyd (pick one), Stewart/Axelrod (pick one), Humber and Sale). They actually have another in-house arms to have a rotation although it's probably not a very good one, and Quentin can be moved for a younger as well with De Aza/Viceido/Rios/Lillibridge in the OF.

That's great news for the Knights.
