max power
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 05:05 PM) I like how they don't call it the "Paul Konerko plan", so they can still trade him. I think its so they don't have to pay him. I mean, he is on the team, but that is still an endorsement thing, right? Leonard Washington
QUOTE (MAX @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 11:35 PM) Oh? Please elaborate on why. I am ignorant and curious. It would be the same as using his picture on the team website, putting his picture on tickets or schedules or programs, etc. Using players to promote the team and thus ticket sales comes with the territory of being a player. They don't get paid extra for it.

They don't get paid extra for it. Do they get paid extra for appearing in commercials for the sox? I always assumed they did, but I am starting to think I'm wrong. I thought their contract was only about playing baseball, and they would get extra for all of those types of things. flavum
Things that make you go hmmm... Kenny Williams was supposed to have a conference call with the media today, and he canceled it. Something going down maybe? With so many trading chips coming up, maybe they want to get a move done before the meetings. Just a thought. Marty34
Suggestion for the mods, how about a stuck thread for tweets/latest news regarding the Sox for during the winter meetings? Just posts of news/rumors, no comments on it. A place where we can take a quick peak at the latest goings on. By all accounts it should be a crazy week. sunofgold
What do think about the idea of inviting Aaron Rowand to spring training? Give him a chance to make our team. Giants are paying him millions for 2012. Low risk...reward? I don't know. Haven't seen him play in awhile. At worst, White Sox fans can see him in spring training and he might motivate other players.
