The issue is...and he's partially right...moving those guys does not make the White Sox better in 2012 unless some team makes a big mistake and gives up a Daniel Hudson caliber MLB ready player. That means, if the Sox are currently the 3rd best team in the division, they won't move upwards from this offseason; if anything they'd move downwards. The only way the Sox are going to move upwards, frankly, is by improvement from within. The one positive there is that the Sox have enormous room for improvement from within...considering that they have 2 former all-stars who got nearly 1000 PA's and between them put up 2 of the 20 worst seasons in MLB history, a former Cy Young winner who had a terrible season, a developing rookie 3b, a struggling young 2b, and Juan Pierre...it's really not hard for this team to outproduce last year's team if they have a good offseason and someone gets them motivated. It was more an example of benefitting from what they lost rather than the actual personnel gain from the trade...although some of those spare parts did come together nicely in the end for the Cardinals.
