caulfield12
Verlander threw 82 pitches. Pretty risky to bring him back on only 3 day's rest, but they might have no choice if they're down 3-0 or most likely 2-1. How many times has he gone on only 3 days in his career? Very rarely if ever, I was reading a Tigers forum where it explained that Verlander has a whole physical routine he goes through to get ready to pitch, that's why he's never gone in as relief, at least that's what that forum said. sunofgold
Tiggs wasted Verlander and Porcello in a loss. This hurts them a lot. Verlander has to pitch with 3 days rest or they start Porcello after 3 days rest (threw less pitches than Verlander). Rangers pinned a loss on Zoolander. Very nice. But they just postponed game 2 to Monday. Rain in Texas is rare too. The Tiggs must be rainmakers in their spare time. No travel day. If the Tiggs can make it rain for another postponement then Verlander could pitch game 4 on 4 days rest. Side question: Why didn't M. Gonzalez get the win? He finished off the 5th. If Wilson had finished off the 5th, he would have gotten the win. Must be some obscure rule that I don't know about. Maybe the scorekeeper's discretion. But what if Ogando only pitched 1/3 of an inning in the 6th. Would he still get the win? Confusing. Edited October 9, 2011 by sunofgold

But what if Ogando only pitched 1/3 of an inning in the 6th. Would he still get the win? Confusing. From Wikipedia: In Major League Baseball, the winning pitcher is defined as the pitcher who last pitched prior to the half-inning when the winning team took the lead for the last time. There are two exceptions to this rule. The more common exception is that a starting pitcher must complete five innings to earn a win (four innings for a game that lasted five innings on defense). If the starting pitcher fails to meet the innings requirement, the official scorer awards the win to the relief pitcher who, in the official scorer’s judgment, was the most effective. The second exception applies only to a relief pitcher who makes a "brief appearance" and is himself later relieved. If, in the official scorer's judgment, the relief pitcher was "ineffective," the win is awarded to the succeeding relief pitcher who was most effective, in the official scorer's judgment. claydude14
Maybe that's why you don't let your ace throw so many innings and complete games during the regular season when you could get the same wins by handing the game off to the bullpen. I get it, dude is a horse, wanted the ball, but come on.

kapkomet
It is stupid that they postponed the game. Not a drop of rain since 2. And the radar had/has nothing since about 3 when it was scooting east of Dallas/Fort Worth/Arlington. Anyway, f*** Detroit.
claydude14
Yea I was shocked they announced a postponment during Bills/Eagles on FOX, like 6 hours before first pitch. That's dumb. Did FOX want to shove Animation Domination down our throats tonight to postpone showing Terra Nova tomorrow?
sunofgold
Leyland is saying that Zoolander is definitely going to start Game 5. What? Leyland pulling a Pinella now. lol! You aren't guaranteed a Game 5 unless you win a game before then. And Zoolander won't pitch Game 4 is you are down three games to nil. Maybe this exposes a weakness with Zoolander. He cannot pitch on three days rest apparantly. An ace in the regular season but maybe not an October Ace. And Tiggs are disappointed b/c they lost Mags. Mags has sucked for at least two or three years now. Guess they have absolutely nothing to replace a below average player. Tiggs are on the ropes right now. Rangers should win this series.
