***Awaits greg775's post proclaiming that the "Tigers will never win the division if Verlander can't beat the scrub Royals"***

Cleve's are free falling . They could finish last. Our last regular series is in Cleve just like 2005.

Uh oh. The Royals are coming to the Cell soon. Hope the Sox are carrying momentum from a sweep of the Twins into that always scary series.

#Angels RHP Jered Weaver has returned to SoCal to get shoulder examined by Dr. Lewis Yocum. Probably out of #Tigers series.

well that sucks... hopefully he is out a couple weeks and we can miss him too

Chris Perez follows up his earlier act of trashing Indians fans by trashing ownership and the front office in Cleveland.

Tigers combined record after sweeping Sox the last two times: 18-21. Cant take advantage. Hope that costs them in the end.

Their wins over the Sox are literally keeping them in the race (applies to the wild card too).

On May 28, Cleveland was in first place.

On September 11, they are tied for last, 17½ games out.

I wonder if that's some kind of record for going from first to last.

I think the 1999 Cubs have something to say about that one.

last years Pirates had a pretty epic collapse IIRC.

Tied for 1st on July 25th with a 53-47 record. The next day they lost that 19-inning game, I believe there was a bad call at the end. Ended the year 72-90, 24 games out of first.

19-43 to finish. Ouch.

1999 Cubs still have that beat cherry picking stats. From June 9th through September 12th, the Cubs went 24-64. That's a .273 winning percentage for more than half the season. Had they accomplished that over a full season, they would have gone 44-118. Thankfully that team had steroids because it's very possible that they would have gone 44-118 that year without them.
