GoodAsGould
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) JIM BOWDEN @JimBowdenESPNxm If the Tigers can get Justin Upton for Castellanos and Boesch +then trade for Infante...OF defense of Upton,Jackson,Berry (Young DH) Boesch doesn't have much trade value and it's going to take more than 1 prospect to get Upton. caulfield12
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) Hopefully he gets traded soon and misses the start vs the Sox next Monday. I know Ryan would never trade him to the White Sox and then turn around and have him face the Twins immediately after the trade...that would be crazy. Unless he really dislikes the Tigers/Illitch and would prefer the White Sox win the Central.

For how much umpires are expected to do and see, they do an incredible job at the major league level.

A decent amount of them do a good job.... the problem is the ones that perform poorly or think they are bigger than the game don't face much penalty. That at least is true in football/baseball, in basketball almost all of them are terrible.

caulfield12
Every once in a while, the slew of Hawk rants or the perception of umpire bias against us causes the Stockholm Syndrome to set in. We actually start sympathizing with Harrelson and believing there is an umpiring conspiracy against us and that because he loses it pretty frequently with the umpires, that the majority are pretty bad at their job. Well, it's about 75% complaining and 25% praising, which is human nature one would suppose. Edited July 19, 2012 by caulfield12

Melissa1334
so ubaldo loads up the bases with two outs and who comes to bat? 38 yr old hideki matsui and his .165 avg. of course he strikes out, just as useless as fukudome was *sigh*

Can't catch up to the fastball anymore. Sad. But it happens to every player. Damon's not too far behind him. Sucks that Matt Joyce is ouchy he would have been up in that situation. Much more dangerous hitter. But Jimenez will inevitably put more runners on base, that's what he does.

flavum
3-0 Tigers, top 3. They're hot, and Fister now has back-to-back great starts. If they go 52-29 the final 81, nothing to do but tip the cap. That means 43-27 the rest of the season.

caulfield12
That would be 10 out of 12 now, and very nearly 11/12 if not for that miraculous rally the O's put on against Valverde and Benoit over the weekend. Scherzer's leading the AL in K/9 as well. Luckily, we get Turner on Sunday. Out of those last 12 games (including today), the only really bad start was Turner's this week. And there's always a possibility they trade for a pitcher before Sunday, although I think they want to give Smyly one more chance before they trade away someone like Castellanos. Oakland is going to push the Angels and Rangers unless they trade away more of their roster by the deadline. j4l's AA for Executive of the Year campaign is working as well as greg's for Ozzie. Just kidding.
