Jamie Moyer won tonight, making him the youngest grandpa to ever win a major league game. He celebrated with handfuls of hard candy.

Cain through 9 with 91 pitches, Lee taking the mound now..Are both these guys going to go 10? or 11?

This is an instant classic pitcher's duel, just incredible. 7 total baserunners in this game and about 10 pitches per inning.

Damn shame Bochy wouldn't let Cain pitch the 10th with only 91 pitches, he was absolutely dealing.

Yeah, looks like lee goes out again if the phillies dont score though

but shuts em down. 10 innings. Awesome.

Only the 5th time this century that a pitcher has gone 10+ innings. The last: 2007 when Aaron Harang went 10 in July and Roy Halladay went 10 in April.

The last time a pitcher went 11+? 1990, Dave Stewart, 129 pitches.

More than 11 innings: Andy Hawkins; also 1990, in a loss, 145 pitches.

12 innings? Rick Wise, 91 pitches (!) in 1971.

13 innings? Dennis Bennett; 159 pitches in 1964.

The record? Warren Spahn; 15.2 IP, 184 pitches, 1951.

Bartolo Colon had a stretch against the Angels where he threw 38 strikes in a row.

Pretty amazing. Wonder what the record is?

I think people are trying to figure that out but no one can tell because old box scores don't record individual pitches.

FWIW, Jon Heyman says that in the last 25 years, the only pitcher close was Tim Wakefield with 30 in 1998

TEX/DET shaping up as the defining series of the early season in the AL....games at Detroit in April weather, so theoretically an even match-up

Ivan Rodriguez will officially retire MONDAY as a Ranger in Arlington. Sure-fire HOF? He was always suspected of PED's, along with Piazza, but never proven, right? I remember always calling him I-Roid, at least, when he was much bigger and putting up those monster offensive seasons.

To be fair, Lincicum is an injury worry because of his motion and his frame. We aren't talking about a guy with a good pitchers body or throwing motion.

Tim Lincecum has thrown 16,814 pitches in big league game action. Can we ALL shut up about any supposed "injury worry" with him? If he ever gets injured, it's because s*** happens, it certainly has little to do with his tried and true delivery.

That would be like Maddux throwing 95 straight strikes.
