I know the Giants aren't the cleanest, most likable team out there. But I'm glad the Dodgers aren't going to buy their way to a division win.

5 back with 27 left.

Feel the same way about the Dodgers, go Giants all the way.

Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi

Brandon McCarthy had two-hour surgery to relieve epidural hemorrhage, brain contusion and skull fracture. He is alert, resting comfortably.

HOLY s***.

Wow. That is awful.

What happened to Tim Lincecum this season? Injuries?

I think he's just getting lazy regarding conditioning. He's down 2 mph on his fastball this year for starters. As a consequence all of his pitches are getting hit harder.

Yeah, remarkable isn't it?

I believe a few years ago there were stories about him having a real good 2nd half after he improved his conditioning during the year. Now we're seeing the opposite.

I was wondering since him being somewhat of a young guy, he threw a lot of innings early in his career, if that has something to do with it.

First base ump blew a pretty bad call to end the game in Baltimore. Yowza.

Yup, bad bad call, but please for crying out loud cut it out with the slides to first.

Giriardi threw a fit postgame and got into it with a reporter. Wouldn't be a first time.
