Couple things.

1.) I wish I could go on a 16-day vacation right now. Ah to be rich like Ozzie.

2.) Coop may be a rat. Should get interesting to see if anybody else supports Ozzie on this.

Nobody likes a suck up rat and in Ozzie's opinion Coop is a rat. Hmmmm.

That last quote from Ozzie may be the best quote in sports history.

There are over 9000 quotes better.

Whether Coop has 26 weeks or 26 years there is still an organizational chart based on position. So yeah, maybe he did go over his bosses head. That doesn't always work. Oz went over his bosses head and tried working out an extension with JR. Currently soxtalk seems to believe that Oz was the singular worst manager in the history of the game. There is nothing he can say or do that will not be blasted.

Untrue now, and every other time you say it.

Harold also re-signed, why doesn't Ozzie call him KW's b****? I knew the Guillens couldn't move on. Another uneccessary column from Cowley. And Ozzie didn't leave? Didn't he have another year on his contract? Didn't he say he wouldn't come back without an extension even with the year left on his contract? People can call Ozzie smart all they want, but the reality is he is a dumbass.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 03:18 AM)
Are you really saying that if worked for the same company for 26 or 28 years (something like that) as Don Cooper has with the White Sox (under at least two "bosses" or managers at the big league level in Manuel and Guillen) that you would give all your allegiance to a single boss who was appointed over you instead of to the CEO or organization itself?

What if you felt that the patently-obvious conflict between your two immediate bosses was causing conflict in the organization that you have grown to love and certainly feel loyalty to, enough to forgo the Yankees' opportunity?

Why does Cooper owe more to Guillen than he does Williams and specifically JR?

It's not like Ozzie brought him from the unemployment line into the job. Heck, even Ozzie admitted he was a great coach.

Greg, you're honestly going to say you would have quit the White Sox (falling on his own sword, so to speak) because it was becoming clear that Ozzie, Cora and Walker certainly wouldn't be returning to Chicago?

Why should Cooper do that, when his salary isn't nearly what Ozzie's making? I'm sure he has made a very decent amount of money the last decade, and some would argue that they would be "set for life" even with it, but it would have been silly for Cooper to leave, just to make a point?

Wouldn't you consider him a traitor if he took a pitching coach job with the Royals or Indians and they ended up beating up the White Sox in 2012 and beyond?

The White Sox front office isn't the mafia or Playboy Club or Good Fellas...Cooper obviously felt his first loyalty was to the Sox organization, not Ozzie Guillen. Why isn't that clear?

Why does Cooper have to suck up to the GM or owner when the White Sox lead the majors in quality starts since the beginning of the 2003 season?

Great post.

“I have people on the street, saying to me, ‘I can’t believe you left us,’ ’’ Guillen said. “Look, those guys didn’t want me. I didn’t leave them. They didn’t want me back, and I understand their point. But don’t tell me I left here.

“Since last year, this was about integrity, it was about loyalty, it was about do they want me here. Let me say it my way: The Sox were saying, ‘Yes, we want to f--- you, but we don’t want to marry you.’ ’’

What is so untrue about this statement.

They were going to bring him back. That is what is true about that statement.

And of course Cowardly Joe won't call him on any of his lies. He just writes it like the 5th gospel, The Holy Gospel of Ozzie.

Jerry Reinsdorf added $25 million+ to his team's total salary this year to try to give Ozzie Guillen a chance to win the division and earn the contract extension he wanted. Ozzie got a $125 million engagement ring and is angry that he was asked to plan a wedding.

i dont see anything wrong with what he said because we dont know who is lying or telling the truth, ozzie or cooper and we'll probably never know

Here's what's wrong... Why say it? You have a new job, and have left Chicago. What does it matter two weeks later. If it needed to be said, say it right away. Don't be a little b**** and cry about this ad nasuem. Man up and get over it. He got the money he wanted. He got the "love" he wanted. Going with his analogy, why is he still creaming in his jeans about his ex?

Coop and Kenny should both not say a word about this afterwards. Let Ozzie mouth off and make a fool of himself.

Sadly...I have as much confidence in Kenny keeping his mouth shut in reply as I did in Ozzie keeping his mouth shut to start off.

Like it or not..."Ozzie Guillen's verbatim ripping of the team" is an actual news article. It was going to happen, we all knew it.

Kenny has had plenty of chances to throw Ozzie under the bus and hasn't done so yet. But personally if Ozzie is going to keep going, I have no problem with Kenny defending the organization. Go ahead and do the tell all to get it over with.

No, you're incorrect there. There is nothing Ozzie can say "Negative" about his time in Chicago that would not be blasted, deservedly so.

If Ozzie Guillen wanted to be gracious or let the past stay in the past, then it would have massively increased my respect for him. Wasn't going to happen.

Kenny was very unlikely to be the one to throw the first punch, that one I agree with, he's good like that. But I will be stunned (and impressed) if he is willing to avoid the counterpunch.

It is only news to joe. To everyone else it is last months news.

Which is of course why ESPN is picking it up as fresh news and it will hang on that page probably all day. Might even get a question to him on it in BBTN later this week.

Come on man, now you're just being silly, you know that whoever Ozzie made those remarks to they'd get published.

Joe has nothing else to write about. He has no other sources in this town so he's going to hang onto all the Guillens nuts(or lack there of) until he finally gets run out of here. I'm so tired of Ozzie, I'm so tired of Cowley, I'm so tired of Oney and all of the rest of the Guillen f***s. I wish nothing but the worst on all these people.

I didn't say it wouldn't get published. I said it wasn't news. There is a big difference.
