Didn't Cowley make a pronouncement a couple days after Ozzie left, that he wouldn't write about Ozzie again until spring?

It really does amaze me he still has a job. The only place I ever read his garbage is here, he can't be getting THAT many links.

cst_Cowley cst_Cowley

And big news from Mr. Handsome ... I will not be writing another Ozzie column for at least three more weeks, that's a guarantee.

Two things:

1.) If Guillen was so concerned with his coaches he should have brought Cox and Walker with him to Miami.

2.) Coop being called out as a rat seems to be deserved.

That is crap. There is nothing in baseball that says you have to go down with the ship because you boss is a raging lunatic, especially when you have that lunatic didn't bring you in.

Ozzie took the ship down by going public with his "demands".

I think that Ozzie took down the ship by failing to win the Central 3 years in a row, personally. I thought it was plenty clear that his job was at risk last year, and then the chairman decided to give him one more shot this year, with basically an $125 million ultimatum.

He already had 2012 in his pocket by forcing the extension last year.

Make your own judgement about working with a rat . . . Coop is Kenny's eyes and ears in that clubhouse.

He should have gotten that extension anyway when the team decided not to dump him. No way you let a manager sit there with 1 year on his contract and a team that ought to be a contender...you don't want a manager to win a W.S. and then wind up being a free agent.

Teams have done it plenty of times. It is closer to normal in baseball than early extensions.

I told [the Sox] I want to keep my coaching staff

And this would explain Walker remaining hitting coach, even though it was blatantly obvious at the end of 2010 (and whatever other years you wish to cite, though 2010 is the best cutoff in my mind) that he was no longer doing his job.

Now it makes sense why Coop wasn't given serious consideration for the manager's job. Kenny didn't have a spy to take his place.

Let's spin this back around - how do you know that Ventura won't be a spy and that he was hired as quickly as he was because one of the interview questions by Williams was "do you solemnly swear to tell me the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about everything that goes on in that clubhouse, so help you God?"

You are so full of s*** sometimes it's unreal.

It would be beneficial to everyone involved if you put some thought into your posts. Cooper got a 4-year deal, Ventura got a 3-year deal.

I'm not sure I understand this whole "spy" business. Where there things going on in the clubhouse that Ozzie didn't want KW to know or wasn't telling him?

Seems like that's a pretty big problem right there.

It seems perfectly healthy to have everyone swear an oath of silence against talking to your bosses, boss, punishable by Cowley.

Good point on what exactly is needing to be hidden. The fact is this team way underperformed. It isn't unreasonable for Kenny to want to know why.

Guillen was hired by chairman Reinsdorf. Williams needed a spy.
