I read the first post and thought "Well crap, what did they do with Laker, he was the only effective hitting coach we had last year." At least he got a promotion. Wasn't Gary Ward the guy several ex-Sox players said set them back as players due to his lack of hitting knowledge?

MindGame2004
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) Do the Sox hire anyone that hasn't been on the team at some point? Nope. And they've been such a successful franchise, it stands to reason why they'd keep it a family affair. I seriously don't understand why they do this every time they go to hire anyone for anything. First guess...money. Second guess...keeps the boss happy/comfortable. Third guess...gives you a convenient excuse/fall guy if things don't work out.
