Zambrano prediction in Miami. 17-8, 3.80

Depends which Z shows up. After his "leave of absence" in 2010, he was unhittable for two months. But during 2011, he was just bad all year until he took the rest of the season off.

On the Score he was proclaiming it a Win Win for both teams....

Considering the money is pretty much a wash, what the Marlins would have had to pay their guy they will pay Zambrano, I'm very sorry to have to admit this, but I actually agree with him. It could blow up in their faces, but its worth a shot for the Marlins and Zambrano had to go, and no one was going to take his contract so the Cubs got something that has a slight chance of panning out.

I'm no fan of KW, but it is a given had KW made the same deal and got Zambrano, Cowley would have written 3 or 4 columns ripping him for it.

It is a win-win-win. Win for Cubs, Win for Marlins, Win for Zambrano. However it could turn into a win-lose-lose. If Zambrano messes it up and causes trouble as a Marlin. Cubs got rid of guy that they wanted to get rid of. He wasn't going to pitch well and be trouble free for them. But Cubs didn't save that much cash. Bargain for Marlins. No commitment past this year.

Are you saying Zambrano wins in either case?

Well it's pretty obvious that's the case, he's earning $18 mill no matter who he's playing for and just got $3.2 mill back from the Cubs.

Is there another franchise in MLB where the GM is as powerless & non-existent as on the north side? Yesterday on CSN the reporter said "Theo Epstein traded Zambrano to Miami. We got him on the phone to ask him about his move." Isn't that the GM's job, not the presidents? I haven't read about a move yet this winter that has included Hoyer's name, every move has been made by Theo.

Honestly, we know who is making the moves there. Theo was the hire, not Hoyer. Theo is going to be making all of the PR rounds for everything, he will be the face, the beneficiary of praise, and the fall guy if it fails. Hoyer will be his right hand man just like he was in Boston, and Theo will continue to be the genius rockstar

It is unfair to say Hoyer is powerless as we dont know what role he plays in the heirarchy.

Hoyer sounds a lot like Hahn. He does the leg work.
