southsider2k5
Well lets hope that Neal Cotts has half the splash of Gobble and Harden. He has got a chance to make a big time impact on a pennant race, and Danny has a chance to get comfortable as the future closer of the Sox! Heads22
So he'll be the first Sox major leaguer that has posted on this site.....that we know of..
kevingrt13
Now if he screws up, can we not castrate him already. It's his first start ever on the West Coast.... elts give him some slack and hopefulyl he can go 6 IP and 3 ER... I'd like that
winninguglyin83
awesome liked what I saw of Cotts in the Futures game. good time to be coming up. Angels are without Erstad and Glaus -- and Salmon got hurt today. hopefully the start of a long, productive career

Rex Hudler
First of all, congrats to Neal. He deserves it and I am confident he will hold his own. Second question (to Mr. Bullard) is who will replace him? Honel? Wing? Have you heard anything Jim?
upnorthsox
Rex, is Neal a downstater or from the Chicagoland area? If he handles himself well his first home start should be Thu, Aug 21st vs Tejas.

Not sure where that is...... Neal Cotts Bio
Bullard
Thanks Rex. Thats my longest outing since the All Star break. I have no idea who is gonna take his place. Neal is officially on our roster until Tuesday, so we wont have to make a move until then. But he's flying to Anaheim tomorrow morning to meet the team. I dont think we'll get Honel or Winger becuz Winston is playoff bound and they need those two for their playoffs. I would say maybe Carlos Castillo or Malone. But I dont know for sure. PS How did you know so fast what happened today at our game. Radio? Internet?
upnorthsox
Yea Lebanon is next to f***ing Belleville, just east of St Louis. Hhmm another crafty lefty who(probably) grew up a die hard Cards fan. Is that a good omen or what!!!
Bullard
Ya Neal is a Lebanese Cards fan.
witesoxfan
Hey Jim, thanks for the news. This move is a great move. Deepens the pen and adds another good starting pitcher.

I was driving to get some lunch when he said Wylie was being bumped to Tuesday, so I thought something had to be up. I know W-S needs those guys, but we could certainly use one of them too, don't you think?
Capn12
Fantastic news, overall....hers my only problem with it, and it has nothing to do with Cottsy himself...Cotts goes Tuesday, and Buehrle Wednesday. To the casual eye, that probably doesn't matter, but to the baseball-savvy ones, that means that we have 2 lefty, finesse pitchers going back to back. I would LOVE to have it set to where it was Cotts, Colon, Buehrle, or Buehrle, Colon, Cotts. That would cause major issues for a lot of teams, catching a lefty finesse, then a righty power, and then lefty control in that order. Nonetheless, hopefully it won't matter cause we will win regardless. Congrats Cotts!
Cerbaho-WG
Opposing pitcher on Tuesday is Ramon Ortiz. He got beat up pretty bad in his last start, 3 IP 7 H 7 ER. Go get 'em, Neal!
YASNY
Here's to Neal Cotts! Congrats on your promotion to the big club. Bull, we hope to see you soon, too.
He_Gawn
Yea Ive been waiting to see this guy.... Just think if he turns out like harden did.... Loaiza Buehrle Colon Garland Cotts WHOA MAN!!
MurcieOne
Carlos Castillo is not ready to face AA hitters...we heard the game he pitched on the radio, and he got lit up. Corwin I think could make the jump...he was solid in Kannapolis. Corwin's prollems are like 95%mental IMO. BTW......it good to here from ya jimmy, we miss you when u dont post. winninguglyin83
And, if as Farmer has always maintained, Wright moves into the pen and succeeds, the entire pitching staff benefits. hope for the best. Cotts can be for us what Harden has been for Oakland and Gobble has been for KC -- a solid weapon for the stretch drive.

Yeah..... enjoy it for a month and 21 days playoffs not withstanding. JR and KW will make sure that isn't the starting rotation come Opening Day '04. You can count on that .
