That was a dud. Sucks that they had 3 days to market the game and it had a late start on a really cold night. MLS scheduling is poor, to say the least.

Yeah, super late game on Halloween not a good night to get a decent crowd going. Really unfortunate they gave up an early goal, then gave one up like 20 seconds into the 2nd half. I felt like all the air was out of the place at that point and it was essentially game over.

I had fun though (we went in Section 8), I'll definitely go back to some games next year.

Not the easiest start. If you can get through those first 4 games with 7 points, they are set. Need to get at least 5.

Not the easiest first three games that's for sure.

Need to grab at least 7 points from those three fixtures in June.

Feb 6 @ Hounduras (D)

Mar 22 vs Costa Rica (W)

Mar 26 @ Mexico (L)

Jun 7 @ Jamaica (W)

Jun 11 vs Panama (W)

Jun 18 vs Honduras (W)

Sep 6 @ Costa Rica (L)

Sep 10 vs Mexico (D)

Oct 11 vs Jamaica (W)

Oct 15 @ Panama (D)

Those results would give us 18 points, which would probably place us second in the group

That looks about right. It's funny that while the competition is tougher, the Hexagonal is in a way much easier than the last round. With 10 games, you have way more room for error. Plus, 3 teams qualify, and the fourth one only has to beat New Zealand. Just don't finish in the bottom two.

If we can get a draw at Honduras then we'll be off and running. Everyone in CONCACAF is good at home but us and Mexico are the only teams that usually can take a game or two on the road. I think for the 2010 Hex, 4 road teams won(US 2, Mexico, Costa Rica). As much as it will pain me, I'll be rooting for Mexico for 8 of their 10 matches.

Honduras may be able to get off to a fast start with their first two matches being at home against the US and Mexico. Also could set up for a horrible Hex for them if they come out of it with just a point.

Costa Rica also starts out at Panama and at the US. Even though that means they'll get them on the backside of the schedule at home, no one wants to start out like that.

Next February will be a fun month for sure. The Super Bowl, NCAA basketball gearing up for conference tournament play, WCQ'ing.

Timmy Chandler will be back with the USMNT in Russia next week. Obviously not cap-tying but good news nonetheless

Good test against a upper level international team. Last gasp effort to get noticed by Germany before having to settle on the US.

Roster for Russia friendly on Wednesday

GOALKEEPERS (3): Tim Howard (Everton), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)

DEFENDERS (6): Carlos Bocanegra (Racing Santander), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Timmy Chandler (Nuremberg), Maurice Edu (Stoke City), Clarence Goodson (Brondby), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim)

MIDFIELDERS (7): Michael Bradley (Roma), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg), Joshua Gatt (Molde), Joe Gyau (Hoffenheim), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04), Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim)

FORWARDS (4): Juan Agudelo (Chivas USA), Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar), Terrence Boyd (Rapid Vienna), Herculez Gomez (Santos Laguna)

-Gatt and Gyau with their first call-ups. Exciting young players I'm very excited to see them play.

-Jozy back with USMNT

-Chandler back - claims he's "1000 committed" now

-Also interested to see Agudelo and Diskerud

-Nice mix of vets with younger players for this match

US draws 2-2 in Russia

Only saw highlights but that's still a good result. Largely experimental roster on the road against a tough, in-form Russian side.

Bradley's goal was fantastic. He and Howard are simply phenomenal.

From accounts, Diskerud, Gatt, Agudelo and Boyd (and Jozy) all played well. Good to hear about our young players. Promising.

Still need help along the back, especially in the center. Really hoping we see John Anthony Brooks called in at some point next year whether it's the January camp, Gold Cup later on in the Hex etc...

Best thing that happened when Bob Bradley was let go is that the stupid "Michael Bradley only plays 'cause his Dad is the coach!" argument has finally died.

Didn't get to watch the match today, but a 2-2 result in Russia is encouraging. Looking forward to the Hex.

The result was good but it sounds like Russia controlled most of the match and Howard stood on his head.

Bradley has to be the guy who replaces Landon as our #10.

The five goalkeepers on the shortlist for the 2012 FIFA XI?

Gianluigi Buffon (Italy, Juventus); Iker Casillas (Spain, Real Madrid); Petr Cech (Czech Republic, Chelsea); Joe Hart (England, Manchester City); Manuel Neuer (Germany, Bayern Munich)

LOL at Hart and Cech - what are these people watching??? FIFA is ridiculous
