I just wanted to make light on the fact that 13 years ago today, Frank Thomas made his major league debut for us. He hit a tripple in his first at bat, and has been a gem for us all this time!

Happy anniversary, Frank! In hoping for more success, as well as an HOF bid!

The HOF is a sure thing.  So I say lets all worry about the TITLE.

Depends on who you ask. I say he's in, but a lot of "experts" talked about Frank and the HOF when he hit #400, and they mostly all said that if he retired right now, he would not be in. They said he needs to get to 500 HR to be a lock. Although, I'm sure 4_ _ would be just fine if he helped lead the Sox to a WS title. :headbang

During the 90s Frank was the only player that would stop me in my tracks to watch him bat. That was as close to perfection in form as I've ever seen. I think his lack of time on defense will be a factor in not voting for him. Still his offensive numbers should be enough. The other factor that should help is his warm fuzzy image, gift of gab, and love fest with the media. That last part should be in green but I can't get it to work

Am I wrong with the information that because the White Sox invoked the diminished skills clause in his contract, he is eligible to become a free agent at the end of this year again? A friend and I were discussing it and were having trouble verifying it. If, in fact, this is true, would the team that signs him be signing a fresh contract or would they be required to sign him for the almost $40 mil that the Sox owe him?

It is true that Frank will be a free agent again at the end of this year, since his contract sits as a one-year deal. Because of this, I don't believe that if another team signed him, they'd have to go with the $40 million that's owed to him. I don't think we have to worry about this, though, because Frank has made it clear that he wants to stay a Sox for his entire career. I'm just hoping that KW will sign him soon.
