This is why we dont rush to judgment based on hearsay evidence in a grand jury indictment. You rushed to judgement, making assumptions, in this thread. I read it. Please save the lecture. G&T
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 11:48 PM) How do you mean "rare"? I always assumed they were pretty rare as well, but I never thought of the number. I probably would have said something like roughly a few hundred in a big city. It's something I could never wrap my mind around, and always figured most pedophiles were that way because they were abused or neglected. I don't know that I have a number but I would guess that any average subdivision in the Chicago suburbs has one. Not all are abducting and raping children. Many have piles of kiddy porn. Others sexually abuse their kids and no one finds out. There are probably different terms for these people but I'm lumping them together. But you are right it seemed common that they were abused in their homes by their parents. Thing about this: back before the internet there were actual child porn magazines that went through the mail (I've never independently verified that but I was told that by someone that would not make that up). So there were enough people to have an organized collection of pictures and distribution of magazines.

RockRaines
Great article HH, thanks for posting Its ridiculous that Second Mile records are missing from 2000-2003, roughly the time period he was hanging out with the boy that McQ caught him with in the shower. Soxbadger
QUOTE (MAX @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 11:54 PM) And even more ironic, is that you rushed to judgment by putting any belief in that rumor in that post. I didnt rush to any judgment. I called it a "rumor" specifically putting it into its rightful context RUMOR. Where did I say it was fact? Where did I say it was reliable? I said the new RUMOR. Lets see how rumor is defined from our good friends at Merriam Webster: 1 1: talk or opinion widely disseminated with no discernible source 2: a statement or report current without known authority for its truth So no, I did not put any belief into the report except to state that it existed. I called it a rumor to specifically indicate that I had no reason to believe it was true, but once again merely reporting its existence. I then said, This is why we dont rush to judgment based on hearsay evidence in a grand jury indictment. Merely showing that there are going to be rumors on both sides, X person will said this happened, Y person will say it never happened. Right now there is very little to no evidence. Are you just unclear what the word rumor means?

You've obviously seriously misconstured my glee over the fact that the arrogant idiocy of Sandusky going on TV and taking 5 minutes to answer a point blank question as to whether he's a pedophle has backfired into infuriating more victims into coming forward. I'm offended by your insinuation that I think a sexual abuse scandal is beautiful.
bmags
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) Good story from the State College newspaper about how the investigation unfolded: http://www.centredaily.com/2011/11/17/2989...eary-break.html Curley and Schultz gave different accounts of what transpired in that meeting, with Curley saying McQueary saw “inappropriate conduct” that he termed “horsing around” between Sandusky and the child, and Schultz saying that he had “the impression that Sandusky might have inappropriately grabbed the young boy’s genitals while wrestling.” Read more: http://www.centredaily.com/2011/11/17/2989...l#ixzz1dzgZSyhL Makes sense why he would have said Horsing around to bob costas. Pretty clear what the lawyer is trying to do.

The kids on the Penn State team did nothing wrong and if they win the Big 10 they deserve to be rewarded The NCAA "punishes" innocent players all the time because of the wrongdoing by their coaches and staff. IN the PSU case you have extreme negligence all the way up the chain. "Punishing" the football team should be the least of the concerns of PSU. Balta1701
QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 08:12 PM) What? Syracuse police say they are in the early stages of investigating allegations that Syracuse University basketball assistant coach Bernie Fine molested a team ball boy during the 1980s, according to an ESPN report. One of two alleged victims, Bobby Davis, 39, came forward with allegations in 2003, but he was told by authorities that the statute of limitations had run out. At that time, former Syracuse basketball player Dennis Duval was police chief. ESPN’s Outside the Lines was prepared to run a story on the case, but, at the time, they were unable to find any corroborating evidence to support Davis’s claims. Recently, a second alleged victim has come forward to say that he was also molested by Fine. The second man says that the recent Sandusky case inspired him to come forward. Davis alleges that the molestation began in 1983, just before he entered the seventh grade. He later became the team ball boy for six years, and he alleges that the abuse occurred at Fine’s home, in Syracuse basketball facilities, and on road trips. Davis claims that the molestation continued until he was 27 years old. This is Fine’s 35th season as an assistant for head coach Jim Boeheim. Davis says that Boeheim had no knowledge of the alleged attacks.Link
