NorthSideSox72
Regardless of what you think of the trade... Sergio did something very impressive, and that few people do. After a failed 6 year minor league career as an infielder, he converted to pitcher, managed to make the Sox roster a year later, became a strong reliever, and eventually a decent closer. That is nothing to sneeze at. And by all accounts, he's a good kid. Thank you for your services, and best of luck in your future career (except of course when you play us). RockRaines
Watching him tell his dad he made the team was one of the best tv moments of all time for me.
kwolf68
Hell of a good kid. Best wishes to Sergio in Toronto...the Jays got them an excellent closer.
southsider2k5
Yeah, Sergio has a great story. He was this close to being done, but came back because the Sox were the one team to ask him to pitch if he ever decided he wanted to do so. Nice scouting to say the least. SoxAce
Really good dude. he's done well for himself on beating the odds when he was once a failed position player (not to mention has a very hot wife. ). Best of luck in Toronto Sergio.

Milkman delivers
He contributed an awful lot in the short time he was with the team. Good luck.
elrockinMT
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:25 PM) Wicked slider. Results never quite matched his stuff. Interesting comment. I think 30 saves is a good result and maybe we would have seen more in 2012 and beyond as Sergio gained experience? We helped develop a good young talent and traded him for a possible big league talent ? I don't know what to make of the move but I certainly don't think it was enough of a return. It sure seems KW has a thing for Toronto now. Arizona before that and the Yankees too and I think that he got fleeced by those guys. But, good luck Sergio. Quin
I f***ing loved this guy. I remember talking to him before his first outing in the BP. He was shocked anyone knew his name. f*** this trade. I'm OK with getting Molina back and it makes sense due to Reed, but man, Sergio, he's awesome.
greg775
He got on quite a roll last year. One of the few Sox to have a very good season. Good luck in Toronto. Hate to see you go for the mysterious pitching prospect.

Yeah that was pretty cool seeing that. Sucks that all the good guys are leaving and we are stuck with the unlikeable overpaid ones.

chetkincaid
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) You cried on a show. Goodbye. He was a bad ass. Plus his pitching arm is covered in tattoos, so that nullifies the crying on a show.

Agreed. I loved watching him pitch this year and hope he does well in Toronto. But as a closer with limited experience I have no problem selling high on him. Hopefully he wins a few AL East titles

Whenever there is an appreciation or positive-by-nature thread like this, there is inevitably a poster or two who wants to get in some comment like that to get extra attention. It worked. Steve9347
I would like to clear things up. I was not making fun of his crying on that show. It was a touching moment. Really, it was his most popular moment as a White Sox player.
