SOXOBAMA
Paul White reports that the White Sox are interested in signing Ryan Madson to a 3 yr deal. I can't see this happening, just maybe he meant to say the Red Sox.

SOXOBAMA
Who is Paul White and what is his handle? He wrote for Baseball Weekly. I am not to sure if that paper is still around.
southsider2k5
I also just came across this while trying to follow up. DOn't know the source. 94wip 94 WIP SOURCE: #Phillies, Ryan Madson agree to one year, $8 million year to set up for Jonathan Papelbon. Madson will re-test market next year. witesoxfan
Scott Boras. The Sox have worked with him a little more in the past 5 years, but they are not going to sign a reliever who is represented by Boras. They aren't going to pay that much money for a reliever. elrockinMT
This one I wouldn't think is going to happen. We can use the $8M on our own players salaries
Chisoxfn
If the Sox spend 8M on Madson I might just throw up.
Andrew
Yeah, I don't think this one has legs either. Ohman, Crain, Thorton, Frasor, Reed...there's no reason to re-open a Linebrink type experiment. Edited December 23, 2011 by Andrew
Swingandalongonetoleft
Yikes. Also, haven't the Phillies already thrown enough money into the old relief pitcher fire to exclude themselves from Madson?
caulfield12
Would rather give half that amount to a Brad Lidge, an on the rebound (ala JJ Putz) formerly effective closer. Edited December 24, 2011 by caulfield12
